this song is about being rejected on a marrige purposal, which happened on halloween hence why the song is called halloween. and if you think about it, if you got rejected like that you would have the same feelings that dave matthews was feeling, so i wouldnt say the song lyrics are screwed up. The gorge has an incredible halloween version on the dvd, might want to look into that
