    Actually it IS American democracy, with all its many flaws, in action. <br /> <br /> For better or for worse, the electoral college is still in place and constitutionally valid. <br /> We have never been a direct democracy, which would easily degenerate into mob rule.<br /> <br /> Whether this will change or not, who knows. <br /> But there is still much crying over spilled electoral milk going on.
