• okay, so we had this great big long chat in civics&economics today about controversial issues, and i can't get it out of my head, so i'm gonna talk about it and hope it goes away. soooo, here goes: i am against abortion, except for extreme cases (like you're a 13-year-old rape victim), and i'm also against the death penalty cuz i don't think humans have the right to take each others' lives. but i can also understand where the victims of things like murder and rape would want that to happen, cuz half the time these people that get life sentences get out after like thirty years for good behavior. and if you ask me, that's completely wrong, cuz the people they kill don't just go away for 30 years. they never come back. my idea for a happy medium is that the ones convicted of things like rape and first-degree murder go to jail for life, no chance of early release or parole or anything, and they have to be in solitary confinement the first five years. that, to me, is a way better punishment than death. also, i think all rapists should be castrated, so they never do it again. i'm sorry, that's just sick, and problems like being abused as a kid are no excuse, because plenty of abuse and molestation victims don't turn into rapists. you know, i'm kinda getting used to this. i guess a journal's different online, cuz others can read it and reply. so i might actually keep this up.
