• Lately I've been listening to nothing but folk, psych folk, neo-folk and the like, particularly Devendra Banhart's first few albums (I don't like his rock stuff) and everything by Joanna Newsom. Joanna's songs speak to my heart...I love her voice and lyrics. "Sprout and the Bean" is wonderful! Oh, recently I discovered a few relatively obscure folksters...both working in Finland...Matthew John and Joose Keskitalo. Since I don't know Finnish and Joose sings in Finnish (at least that's what I think it is), I can't comment on his lyrics. But his music is wonderful!!! Matthew John lives in Finland but his web site says he's a Californian like me! His music is breath-taking, and his lyrics top most of the current folksters today. Ok, enough for now...gotta go listen to some more music!
