I recently left a number of sites that I joined when I was around thirteen and had just discovered the awesomeness of n00bhood. It was a tough age, going from 'retard of the month' on messageboards to lying about my friends' truly awful Harry Potter fanfictions (I think I left the fanfics around the time I encountered a fic with Harry-Draco Ron-Ginny Snape-Hermione pairings). Somehow, one by one, throughout the last year, I drifted away from these internet communities where I began. Then I tried fruitlessly to waste the same amount of time on the computer. Naturally, I have been forced to seek out new hang-outs.
I visited songmeanings a lot before joining recently- it is no surprise to me that I ended up joining. I was first shown the site when me and a friend were wondering about a few lyrics in the Decemberist's Leslie Anne Levine. She sent me the link to the page, we got our meaning. But I kept reading- too drawn into the different layers of meaning each user interpreted. Soon I began to look further than just the Decemberists on songmeanings, and ended up joining simply because too few people commented on The Sleepy Jackson (Luke Steele is not my favourite lyricist, but I like the songs enough to feel they need more recognition).
Now I am left wondering one single thing about this site- why does a site about lyrics and song meanings provide users with personal blogs? Why? What are we supposed to write in these things?
I mean come on- who is going to read this?
Welcome to the site, me!
