The Rising City

  • I saw fames grow up from the ground in fast motion. They were like thorns that pierced the guts of the victoms they have chosen. Agonized, they kicked and screamed and though it seemed so certain that This was the end of humanity, Out of the backs of many including myself grew wings to help us fly from This calamity. Then I woke and I was panting. I heard the psalms the crew around me were chanting. It was only a dream or perhaps a vision! But now I'm back with my team, back on our mission. It was five of us on a boat; Only one group of many afloat. With Ambition we set sail above the deep sea at night. In the vast distances with nothing else; not a tree in site. Our goal was to send hope to the many faces frowning And this was exceeded by rescuing those who were drowning. We pulled many on board With not a soul ignored. Still others in the sea were content there; In the waters they never seemed to care. We've kept no count of the numbers we've saved Or the days passed since our last shave. We grew with forgetfullness of our last meal And our feet ached and were far too numb the feel. Our spirits were growing bitter and raw But then we were petrafied at this we saw... Beneath the waters square-shaped lights brightly glew. What this could have been, none of us really knew. It began to grow closer and closer towards the surface And heart beated faster and I graduatly grew nervious. One man had cried." The water descends! The water descends!" But another replied,"No, The city is risng..." Out from the waves tall buildings ascended Leaving us in question,"Has our voyage ended?" In minutes the water was absent, nowhere to be seen, it was gone And our boats were pointlesswith the land we were now on. Then no more had the buildings grown any higher And up from the solid ground had risen fire.
