my SongMeanings

 • Let me start by saying how great this site is. On the surface it is a perfect place to find those hard-to-find lyrics that you can't get anywhere else. Scratch a bit deeper and it's an plentiful source of ideas, opinions and interpretations. Even more its a good place to discover people with similar taste in music and to see what other artist they like. An amazing site all around. This site along with Last.fm and AlwaysontheRun make up my trifecta of music sites. If I can't find the music and lyrics I want with them it can't be found. So I finally joined up after being a spectator for almost a year. At first I didn't think I'd contribute much but already I've added an artist, Elephant Parade, and contributed 45 lyrics to the site and I've only been registered for 3 days. (It said I registered on the 10th but because of an e-mail snafu and the down time I didn't have access until the 27th.) I even commented on a few songs already. Something I wasn't really planning on doing. I really only registered to submit lyrics. Speaking of submitting lyrics I want to say I'm a newbie at this. So forgive me for any spelling grammatical or verse mistakes. I'm learning as I go along. I've been transcribing a bit for myself for a while. Two main artist I transcribed where Tina Dico and Laura Veirs, because I couldn't find their lyrics anywhere. I finally found Tina Dico's lyrics under her real name Tina Dickow but Laura Veirs' earlier work seem to be too obscure to find lyrics anywhere, so I submitted a few myself. So for the lyrics I submitted I started with Elephant Parade's Riding in Your Car. A beautifully simple song from a very new band. Next was Steve Tannen because he is an awesome artist and I couldn't figure out why he doesn't have more fans on here. It helped that his lyrics are all there on his site. Next I put up a few lyrics by Deb Talan that aren't up for some reason. Actaully the majority of the lyrics for Deb Talan's solo work is mistakely submitted under "The Weepies" which is a band she formed with Steven Tannen. I'm tempted to resubmit them under her name but I guess I should see about having them moved first. Then like I said lyrics from Laura Veirs' earlier work are non-existent so I tried my hand at them and submitted here. I know I got some of it wrong and there are a few songs of hers and Deb Talan's that I haven't submitted because I want to get them right. The songs I submitted for Laura Veirs and Deb Talan are my own transcribes and I take full responsibility for any mistakes. And finally today I found that one of my favorites, Etro Anime, didn't have any lyrics submitted for them. So I submitted them myself. I can't take the credit since all the lyrics for their album "See the Sound" are on Alwaysontherun. So if there are any mistakes I blame that site. hehe
