Ok, so I was listening to Less than Jake's albun Pezcore, and I came across the song "Growing Up on a Couch". I spent the next 10 minutes trying to figure out where I knew that intro from. It nearly killed me. I remembered that it was a girly sounding voice, so I went through all the music with girly sounding voices (basically, Tsunami Bomb and that one Le Trigre song) with no success. After being plauged by the thought of "What the hell is that from!!!!" all day, my little grey cells kicked in, and the mystery was solved: Fall Out Boy. Listen to it people! Dance, Dance and Growing Up on a Couch have nearly the exact same intro!
Anyway, that is the musical contribution for this entry, and now we will move on to more IMPORTANT topics. I.E. my ranting time about that whole "anti-religious" thing that seems to be sweeping North America. I suppose it's being politically correct, but I also think it's gone too far.
I can see that if you go to a public school, it would be very diffucult to give a day off to every religious holiday, but that shouldn't mean that these kids shouldn't be allowed to express their religion if they want, right? Remember back a few years ago when the US was really concerned because their Pledge of Alligance (I think) had the words "Under God" in it? Just to point it out, in case you haven't noticed, most religions have a God in it, whether or not it goes by that name. The only people that MIGHT have a problem with that is Buddhists or Atheists, but in the US, where most people are Christian, shouldn't majority rule? Like, if you are buddhist or atheist, than either: just don't say that line, or replace the word God with the higher power of your choice. It's very simple, don't you think?
Anyway, I'm ranting about this because it's no longer just about the P.o.A., it seems to have spread to everywhere. No longer are they "Christmas Cookies" or "Christmas Cake", but "Holiday Cookies" and (the truely inferior) "Fruit Cake". If people have such a problem with racism and unacceptance of other religions, isn't this giving them mixed messages and telling our children (well, Your, I don't have children) that instead of accepting differences, we should just change the rules so nobody gets anything? Do you make everyone take remidial studies just because there's one "learning disabled" kid in the class? Think about it.
Ben Stein wrote a very good bit, which is here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/benstein2.asp
I suggest you all go read it, because it's a lot better than what I wrote.
Peace, yo.
Coincidence? Possibly.
