... The Honey Brothers formed in 2001 in the East Village by filmmaker Ari Gold and college friends Andrew Vladeck and DS Posner. By 2002, Pierre Michel and Adrian Grenier had joined, completing the original lineup. in 2003, they released their EP Honey 4 U, which first featured their best known track 'Some of Them are Nice Days'. In 2004, Michel was involved in a fatal kyacking accident; his death lead to the release of their first full-length album Songs for Your Sister (2006.) Ethan Gold, Ari's brother, replaced Michel in the lineup. 'Some of Them are Nice Days' was re-released and spawned their first music video; the track was subsequently featured in the soundtrack for Scott Prendergast's independent film Kabluey. Later, they also produced a music video for 'Little Boy', a song originally featured on Honey 4 U. After headlining at the Bowery Ballroom that same year, they released a second EP that contained live performances and some unreleased songs. Ethan Gold left the band in 2008 and was replaced by Dan Green. Their second full-length album Times Flies Like a Peach was released in April 2012; the album was preempted by its first single and the band's first music video 'Green and Gold' in late March.
The Honey Brothers are currently based out of Brooklyn, New York. Although the band admits they received a fair amount of exposure from his career, member Adrian Grenier, an actor widely known for his role as 'Vincent Chase' on the HBO series 'Entourage' and for theatrical films such as 'Drive Me Crazy' and 'The Devil Wears Prada', and the rest of the band have barred venues from using his name for promotional purposes. The members have adopted stage names early in their career. The current lineup as 2012 is as follows: Andrew Vladeck (aka Dory Honey)-banjo, guitar, ukulele, vocals; DS Posner (aka Dr. J Carl Honey) – vocals, guitar; Ari Gold (aka Hoyt Honey) – ukulele, keyboards, vocals; Adrian Grenier (aka Honey DuContra) – drums, vocals, guitar; and Daniel Green (aka Sonny Honey) – bass.
