The Barbie Army were an all-woman punk band in the late 1980s in Chicago. Founded by Unviersity of Chicago graduates, the band frequently played legendary south-side blues bar The Checkerboard Lounge. In addition to covers (notably "18") they wrote their own songs and released a number of albums.
