... Megan Joy (born August 5, 1985) is an American singer and a finalist on the eighth season of the reality television series American Idol from Sandy, Utah. She appeared in the auditions phase as Megan Corkrey and then added her middle name Joy during the semi-finals. After the Wildcard episode, she dropped her last name, stating it was her ex-husband's and that she wanted to be known as Megan Joy from here on out.[1] She has stated that she is musically inspired by Björk after listening to her when she was 16.[2]
Megan Joy auditioned for the eighth season of American Idol in Salt Lake City, Utah. Although she was not one of the three finalists chosen by voters from her semifinal performance group, she returned as a Wild-Card and was selected by the judges to be a part of the Top 13. She is well-known for her strange dance moves, fairytale tattoo, quirky personality, unique voice and obscure song choices.[2] Judge Kara DioGuardi has described her as "having a way of putting her signature on everything she does".[3]
