...
Andromeda is a progressive metal band from Malmö, Sweden, formed in 1999 by guitarist and composer Johan Reinholdz. Known for their technical precision and atmospheric compositions, the band has earned a loyal following within the progressive metal community for their blend of complex instrumentation and melodic sensibility.

The band's debut album, Extension of the Wish (2001), marked a powerful entrance into the genre. It was initially recorded with session vocalist Lawrence Mackrory, but due to lineup changes, it was later re-released with new vocals by David Fremberg, who became the band’s long-term frontman. Fremberg’s distinctive voice added depth and continuity to the band’s evolving sound.

Over the years, Andromeda has released five studio albums:

- Extension of the Wish (2001)
- II = I (Two Is One) (2003)
- Chimera (2006)
- The Immunity Zone (2008)
- Manifest Tyranny (2011)

Each album showcases the band’s intricate song structures, soaring melodies, and philosophical or socio-political lyrics. Their third release, Chimera, is particularly noted for its balance of technical skill and emotional intensity, while Manifest Tyranny takes a more politically charged approach.

The group’s lineup features some of Sweden’s most skilled musicians:

- David Fremberg – vocals
- Johan Reinholdz – guitar
- Martin Hedin – keyboards
- Thomas Lejon – drums
- Linus Abrahamson – bass

Drummer Thomas Lejon is also recognized for his work with A.C.T and formerly with the melodic death metal band Embraced. Meanwhile, Reinholdz has played a pivotal role not only in Andromeda but also in bands like Nonexist, Skyfire, and most recently Dark Tranquillity.

In addition to studio albums, Andromeda has released two live DVDs: Playing Off the Board (2007) and Live in Vietnam (2016), both of which capture the band’s tight, high-energy performances on stage.

Though often compared to genre giants like Dream Theater, Andromeda has carved out their own niche, offering music that’s both technically sophisticated and emotionally resonant. Their continued relevance is a testament to their musicianship, creativity, and commitment to the progressive metal genre.
