Cologne is poison. It's filled with chemicals. The lyric is literal. No guessing. It can cause everything from asthma to cancer. He loves her too much to buy her a poison to put on her skin and then it sinks in past the skin.
I'm not guessing. I know. Pat has talked about it before. Not that to me but we have had an exchange or two over music. If you love yourself enough not to cover yourself in chemicals then find alternatives. Natural ones for fragrance....
