Peter stood upon the mountain
surrounded by the infidels.
As his gaze surveyed the landscape.
Crosshairs dancing in his eyes.

Peter's cry from the tower
did not sound so merciful.
And he goes...
He goes down.
He goes down.

Peter hears the voice again,
drowning out the icy cry.
In his head is the answer.
Loads his rifle with a sigh.

Peter's cry from the tower
shatters on the street below.
And he goes...
He goes down.
He goes down.
He goes down.
He goes down!

Peter feels the great release now.
He does not cry, letting go.

And he goes...
He goes down.
He goes down.
He goes...down.

"Y'all better get the police!"

And we all pretended,
thought he never intended
to take upon himself an action,
and carry it out.
Now we lie in what he knows.

And we never expected
he'd mind being rejected.
He took upon himself an action,
and carried it out...

Oh god.

Now we die for what he knows.

Die
Die
Die!

My OpinionUpon my first listen of "Peter the Destroyer" I instantly thought of Mr. Cornett. I fantasized this song to be sort of an ode to him, his personality, his perception of the world/ people around him, and how he was reacting. I would definitely take that interpertation with a grain of salt. Now, after years of following this band, and after years of listening to their songs over and over, "Peter the Destroyer", and specifically "Peter" himself, to me, parrallel such characters as "Dante", (Cantebury Tales), Joshua, or even "Jesus", (The Last Temptation of Christ). As mentioned in the liner notes of their album "Sink", these guys are influenced by cinema. I am not going to break this song down verse by verse, and give a tedious explanation of each word from Rob's mouth. In reality, at least personally, many Floater songs take on differen't meanings, and can effect me in a different way. Especially after multiple listens to specific songs. Therin lies the beauty of Floater. I would like to think these songs take on different meanings to the band themselves. If you've ever been to show you will notice lyrical mutations to alot of songs. All in all I would just like to suggest maybe listening to "Peter the Destroyer" with the above characters in mind.
