A living nightmare, asleep but still aware.
The endless torture.
The painless pleasure.
I grasp myself.
Trying to regain control.
I experience and learn.
In another faction of my mind.
So confused.
But everything makes perfect sense.
Can’t feel the pain.
Emotional pain’s so much deadlier.
Lost, you’ve just been raped.
Pain. Your friends can’t help you.
Why wont they help you? Another reality.
This can’t be happening.
Why is this happening?
Who the fuck are you?
Who the fuck. Are you?
Trying hard to figure out what’s done.
I scramble but now I run.
The images in my head.
All the problems that I’ve been fed.
Punching slowly my mind can’t change the speed.
As my victims bleed.
No matter what I do or how hard I try.
I can’t use my abilities.
Use my abilities.
Art of Illusion.
My razor sharp knife’s edge, pierces my victim’s body.
But I can’t take their soul.
Punching through jello, stabbing not killing.
Disappointment. Discomfort.

A living nightmare, asleep but still aware.

^Drugged, in a comatose state but still aware of everything around you yet unable to feel pain.

The endless torture. The painless pleasure.

^Raped, but cannot feel the pain but it is giving the rapist pleasure .

I grasp myself. Trying to regain control.

^trying to command her body to move to get him to stop but she has no control. completly helpless.

I experience and learn. In another faction of my mind.

^Experiencing a new thing and trying to learn from the experience.

So confused. But everything makes perfect sense.

^confused about why he is doing this to her and why she deserved it, but she understands why people do this to other people.

Can’t feel the pain. Emotional pain’s so much deadlier.

^She cant feel physical pain, but she is going through diffrent emotions that its hurting her becuase she doesnt know how she feels.

Lost, you’ve just been raped. Pain. Your friends can’t help you. Why wont they help you? Another reality. This can’t be happening. Why is this happening? Who the fuck are you? Who the fuck. Are you?

^her friends cant help her beucase it seems they are in a diffrent world and she is trapped in this time frame in this situation and nobody knows it is happening. she is questioning herself in the next to lines and this is something people usually do when they are paniced or scared. she is then asking the person who they are but she cannot speak.

Trying hard to figure out what’s done. I scramble but now I run. The images in my head. All the problems that I’ve been fed.

^bakc in her normal state she runs away but the image of what happened keeps replaying in her mind. the problem ive been fed could be saying the drug she was fed was feeding her problems but also it could be saying all the problems that have come from that event.

Discomfort.

^The rapists POV: he is mentally unstable and you can tell becuase he has no control over what he is doing "My mind cant chage the speed" and "No matter what i do or how hard i try" "The art of illusion" shows it doesnt seem real to him. He hurts people but not to kill but to cause them pain. this could be because he is looking for happiness and he thinks by hurting people he can find happiness but in the end he is just disappointed, or, he hurts people to get payback on the world becuase he has been badly treated and to cause people the pain he has been caused.

thats how i decifered it. its quite easy if you put yourself in the right frame of mind. the screaming is amazing and Val is really nice too.

The chick part is definitely the best part for being insane. It's A7X! At least they call it that.

Wicked as Valery's screaming might be, whats the song actually about? The words "serial rapist" spring to mind. :/ But then the ending of the song sounds as though it's a guy who murders people to try and feel close to them but he never quite gets it. Read this book by Robert Cormier called 'Tenderness', theres a similar character in it called Eric who assaults and murders girls to feel a moment of 'tenderness' when they're helpless, maybe its a similar scenario? I'm not sure this song has me stumped. Meh.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
