Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
walking down the streets at night
i see her stumbling through the rain
a skinny figure in the dark
her face a shade of grey
begging here and barking there
she´s swearing all the time
her fingers fumbling with her hair
a dirty mess of grime
and she starts to cry and she´s asking why
her life´s always the same
but she does not see, that unfortunately
there´s no one here to blame
"heroin" she said, "was the best i had...
no more mountains left to climb.
the world so slow... all my dreams just too high
to be fulfilled in time...!"
she grabs my arm... and i feel alarmed
her fingers gripping tight
i see her pleading eyes... so i start to diguise
and say, that everything´s alright...
and the reason why i pretended and lied
is that i don´t want to kill
the poor dream that´s left in the deepest cleft
of the thing that she calls will...!
"heroin" she said...

The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
This really reminds me of a certain girl I know that lived from high to high, but as soon as she wasn't everything went to hell. She managed to turn her life around eventually though when she had her baby, and (thank God or whoever), her baby was normal, but whenever I hear this song I remember the days when we were all sure she might die at any time. I hope her son never sees the person that's described in the song.
The best Wolfsheim song.
definately one of Wolfsheims Best! HELL YEAH FOR THIS SONG!!!!
LOVE this song.
Good heroin song for sure.... really captures the feeling ; )
This is a great song, the music has such a dirty sound to it and the lyrics really get the vibe accross... I really like this band.... yeah. I'm so shitfaced!
Yea..I don't think an in-depth analysis of the lyrics is required here. It's still an awesome song.
Emo's don't need reasons.
amazing song. he gets it exactly right,
This really is a great song, like most i was introduced to it at the club, but after picking up Spectators and Casting Shadows i seldom find myself listening to it. I think this song was always pretty self explanatory in its meaning. Now i've never done heroin, so i can't speak from experience, but i imagine it likely is speaking from the point of "once you've spent your life high on heroin, everything else seems pointless when you're not high". But, like someone else said, in depth exam not really neccesary ;-).
