Ring around the rosies
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down

Nursery rhymes are said, verses in my head
Into my childhood they're spoonfed
Hidden violence revealed, darkness that seems real
Look at the pages that cause all this evil

One, two, buckle my shoe
Three, four, shut the door
Five, six, pick up sticks
Seven, eight, lay them straight

London bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down
London bridge is falling down, my fair lady

Chorus

Nick nack paddy wack, give a dog a bone
This old man came rolling home

Mary had a little lamb who's fleece was white as snow

Mary had a little lamb who's fleece was white as snow
(Baa baa black sheep have you any wool)
Mary had a little lamb who's fleece was white as snow
(Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full)
Mary had a little lamb who's fleece was white as snow
(Baa baa black sheep have you any wool)
Mary had a little lamb
(Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full)

Ring around the rosies
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down

Chorus

Nick nack paddy wack, give a dog a bone

Jonathan Davis wrote this song because of all the nursery rhymes the little kids sing on the playground, they really have deeper, darker meanings, like for example, "London Bridge" is really about the Black Plague. Kids are singing them and they're all happy and they just don't know what they really mean.

ring around the rosie was about the plauge, not london bridge is falling down...london bridge was about london bridge actually starting to collapse which is why the original was moved brick by brick to nevada or arizona by some rich fucker...other than that little correction, I have to agree with king_nothing...and the drug one makes no sense at all there pal

Nursery rhymes and brutality have much in common sometimes. Look at fairy tales. They are not made for children and always feature violence and profanity. Due to these facts this song is close to brilliant. The intro is smashing.

this song took the innocence of childhood nursery rhymes and made them into a twisted track. To me this song points out, how complicated, twisted and shamefully sad childhood has become. The bagpipes are an interesting choice on this song, but work very well. good song.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
