You don't have to sneak in the door
Just come on into the room
I've been lying in our bed in the dark all alone
And I've been waiting, I've been waiting for you

There's been no reason to move
It's been as still as a tomb
I needed you oh, so badly tonight
But I guess you had better things to do

I should have known that it was coming to this
But I must have been blind
I bet you still got a trace of his love in your eyes
And you still got his eyes on your mind

You swore you'd be with me at 7 o'clock
Now it's a quarter to three
And whatever you got and whoever it was
I guess you couldn't get it from me

I know that you love me, there's no need to talk
I see the look in your eyes and I got the proof
And there are no lies on your body, so take off your dress
I just want to get at the truth

I know that you love me, there's no need to talk
I see the look in your eyes and I got the proof
And there are no lies on your body, so take off your dress
I just want to get at the truth

And there are so many things that I just got to know
You tell me who! You tell me where! You tell me when!
But don't tell me now, I don't need any answers tonight
I just need some love so turn out the lights
And I'll be left in the dark again

I just need some love so turn out the lights
And I'll be left in the dark again
I just need some love so turn out the lights
And I'll be left in the dark again

Left in the dark again
I should have known that it was coming to this
But I must have been blind
I bet you still got a trace of his love in your eyes
And you still got his eyes on your mind

You swore you'd be with me at 7 o'clock
Now it's a quarter to three
And whatever you got and whoever it was
I guess you couldn't get it from me
I guess you couldn't get it from me

But down in my soul, down in my soul
I know - I know that you love me, there's no need to talk
I see the look in your eyes and I got the proof
And there are no lies on your body, so take off your dress
I just want to get at the truth

There are so many things that I just got to know
You tell me who!

I just need some love so turn out the lights
And I'll be left in the dark again
I just need some love so turn out the lights
And I'll be left in the dark again
I just need some love so turn out the lights
And I'll be left in the dark again

Left in the dark again....

This song is called "Left in the Dark," not "Left in the Dark Again." Where's the moderation?

I love this song...it's a perfect example of Jim Steinman's ability to infuse even a serious song with wordplay (something seriously rare these days). To elaborate: the title phrase "left in the dark" both refers to the lyric "turn off the lights" (literally leaving the protagonist in darkness) and the idiomatic/figurative "to leave someone in the dark about something" (to conceal information). Not a very subtle or complex pun (at least in my opinion), but clever nonetheless.

This one of Jim Steinmans (Meat Loafs Songwriter) greatest songs to me. The emotions are very strong. You love someone, you know that you are cheated by her, you are angry and jealous but you still love her. Good example that a song can express more than the words itself. The song was first published on Steinmans Solo Album "Bad for good" in 1981. There, it contained the following introduction: "Where did he touch you and how did it feel and why did you let it begin? what did he whisper and when did you cry and where do you think it will end? How long did you do it and why did you stop? Did you get to try anything new? How good was he, honest, where did he go and who made the very first move?"

which rounds up quite nicely with the spoken

"You make the very first move"

at the end of the Meat Loaf Version on "Welcome to the neighbourhood"

I really love this song... so much emotion...

Incidentally, I never knew about that intro, but it does make the "You made the very first move" make sense...

I think it's a shame they left out the long spoken part in the meat loaf version, makes it feel like it's missing something...

And isn't it, "Who made the very first move?" though?

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
