What could have happened to
Take what's become of it
Choices that he had made
Molds to most of it
But to hide in the shade
Will keep the weather out
And to crawl into
The hole that hides you now
He's hidden it all just to cover his tracks
Sutured what could be described as a fact
Taking the trail that leads will find you
Back to the start of it
Before it will be changed
If it's a little weird
Well then dig in a bit
It's more than the sum
Of all the separate parts
Suffer the thoughts I had
That you will take to heart
Fail safe always tends to try
Make way while you watch and wait
For those who take it on themselves
I'll find you

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
