The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
She said she wanna love me
I just want company
Don’t fuck with me
I just want money
You can get the fuck from me
I know you got comfy
Thinking everything was all that it seemed
But it ain’t all lovely
Life can get ugly
I’ve been tryna focus more on myself
Tryna heal from all the pain that I've felt
I don't know why but I felt compelled
To transfer this pain on to someone else
In the beginning I know it felt different
You felt the difference
I left you grinning
I Had you thinking what I was giving
Was only for you just like prescriptions
She said I ain’t never feel love
But with you I want that real love
She said I ain’t never feel love
But with you I want that real love
Girl I don't want problems
I just want dollars
Mo' commas
No drama
I know what I promised
Girl I don't want problems
I just want dollars
Mo' commas
No drama
Fuck what I promised
And it ain’t nothing personal
I know I left you scarred
I Ripped out your heart
And baby that’s surgical
Yeah that’s surgical
But you was so versatile
The way you got on top
And took your top off
Just like a convertible
But baby that’s personal
For me and you to know
But I need you to know
Keep calm don’t lose control
Speak on only what you know
Open your palms
It’s time to let me go
Trust me it’s just for the better
You knew that this wouldn’t last for ever
I remember You said I was your treasure
And you was my diamond
Funny thing bout it
They crack under pressure
That means you ain’t solid
And I just committed a robbery
By stealing your heart
I Ripped it apart and disposed of it properly
Now you won’t stop calling me
Your Eyes getting watery
I can’t give you no love
So If it’s enough
Here’s my apology
She said I ain’t never feel love
But with you I want that real love
She said I ain’t never feel love
But with you I want that real love
Girl I don't want problems
I just want dollars
Mo' commas
