back in the day...
oh, it wasn't that far.
not a day goes by that won't be in the back tomorrow.
take today as a sample to you.
it looks cloudy outside,
what are you gonna do
well, we could get up
or we could get on down
we could drive to the country or head downtown,
maybe i'll join you too

we could have been so much better off than before
if we held on true

take today, and go walk for a while
well just sit back jack and relax and enjoy a smile
well let your mind go...
for a minute or two,
let your mind levitate for a delicate few.

we could have been so much better off than before
if we held on true

i said but lately i've been feeling mighty old
i said the sun has got me cracked and this wind has got me cold
and i'm so damn tired of losing my friends
every single time i go and lose my ends
i say but that's okay, i'm on my way
and in awhile when i realize there's something new
but until then i got to hold on true...

some of the lyrics are missing

but this song is about life and your memories and relationships you make and stuff and how people go away or you drift apart as time goes by but dont be sad remember where you've been and face the present and wats in your life now.

i cannot believe more people did not comment on this song. Def. one of my favorite o.a.r songs. Its just saying don't go through life too fast because it is fast enough already. Everyone needs time to relax and look around and enjoy their life and the people in it.

Personally I think he's trying to say, no matter what you go through with your loved one you should still, as the song title says, Hold On True.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
