This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
I woke the same as any other day
Except a voice was in my head
It said seize the day, pull the trigger, drop the blade
And watch the rolling heads
The day I tried to live
I stole a thousand beggar's change
And gave it to the rich
The day I tried to win
I dangled from the power lines
And let the martyrs stretch yeah
Singing, one more time around
Might do it
One more time around
Might make it
One more time around
Might do it
One more time around
The day I tried to live
Words would you say
Never seem to live up to the ones inside your head
The lives we make
Never seem to ever get us anywhere but dead
The day I tried to live
I wallowed in the blood and mud with all the other pigs
Singing, one more time around
Might do it
One more time around
Might make it
One more time around
Might do it
One more time around
The day I tried to live, live
I tried
I woke the same as any other day you know
I should have stayed in bed
The day I tried to win
I walled in the blood and mud with all the other pigs
And I learned that I was a liar (one more time around)
I learned that I was a liar (one more time around)
I learned that I was a liar (one more time around)
I learned that I was a liar (one more time around)
Singing one more time around
(Might do it)
One more time around
(Might make it)
One more time around
(Might do it)
One more time around (might make it)
The day I tried to live, live
Just like you
Just like you
One more time around
One more time around
Except a voice was in my head
It said seize the day, pull the trigger, drop the blade
And watch the rolling heads
The day I tried to live

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Just A Little Lovin'

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
Maybe I've always heard it wrong. I thought near the end it said "I learned that I was alive" soon followed by "on the day I tried to live just like you".
In other words, one day I tried to live like you, thinking I had been missing something. But what I discovered was that I wasn't missing anything after all. And it's a cooler way to put the song together if you think about it. It seems to make no sense - the day I tried to live all kinds of terrible things happened. But at the end we discover that we've haven't been given the whole line.
Dunno. I like mine better.
I get it. I think they both work in different ways "I learned that I was alive" and "I learned that I was a liar." I'd like to know what the original artist wrote. My opinion, though, is that the "liar" version provides more continuity with the general existential theme of the rest of the lyrics. Existentialism is both a very cynical while simultaneously optimistic philosophy. When you live life always to be the seen as the morally outstanding person, you tend to lose perspective and lose your humanity. That's what this song is about. To learn one is a liar, one is freed from the constraints of always having to morally outdo the other, to be the better person. We are humans and humans err and sometimes do wrong. To always have to live to an unattainable moral standard means to lose a decidedly human quality.

Even when people say, "What would Jesus do?" But Jesus was the son of God no?

The other version works pretty much in a standard way. We learn we are alive when we learn we are flawed. It goes to the concept of original sin and the fall of man, themes treated extensively in existential philosophy, probably mostly Kierkergard since he was the most religious and seminal.

The point I think is not to judge others, since we are not better. But the flip side, the optimism lies in the fact that they are no better than you either!
