I fell in love when I was 21
I knew it was love, it was more fun than being alone
Maybe you know somebody who is falling in love right now
Smiling all the time, getting high, I bet a foot off the ground

I remember I needed no shoes in cold I hovered and glowed
People said to me "congratulations you were cold but now you're warm"
We made love together, she and I became one
We had double our numbers
We had doubled our numbers

At 23 I committed to learn
Never play with fire, love is pain and you'll only get burned
Maybe you know somebody who refuses to play with love
Always in control with affection seen as a weakness

I remember I needed no one to hold I held my own ground
People told me they heard accusations whispered all over town
I made love whenever it was easy. The lonely crowd
We had double our numbers
We have doubled our numbers
We have double our numbers

[BREAK]

When I turned 26 I knew
You give up on love and the next thing you know it'll come to you
Maybe you know somebody who has given up on love
May they wake up tomorrow in the arms of the one they've been dreaming of

When you're independent you can be free
But you're free from love and that's no way to be
When we have our problems, we won't ignore them, we will fight them toe-to-toe
We make love together, you and I have become one
We have double our numbers
We have doubled our numbers
We have double our numbers
We have doubled our numbers
We have doubled our numbers
We have doubled our numbers
Doubled our numbers
We have doubled our numbers

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
