Since day one
Well I've been the God
Of my own existence
Living life with no regrets
Flirting with death
You'll never keep this monster down
Take a note
We'll never feign or falter
Even though this life should
Bring us to our knees
Make sure you understand that
You'll never keep this monster down
So, fuck off, bleh

Live everyday
Like it's the last of me
Call it a curse
Call it disease
Or just say that I'm free
Whoa, let me be
The one to make it
Clear to see
This is how we were
Meant to be, yeah

We are the new generation
And we will not be conformed or taught to bow down
Desert your condescending words
Because you're in for a fucking ride
You thought that you could keep up with me
Well you've only got a couple more to go
Distinctions fading as your mind starts to wander
But now you're headed for the floor

Live everyday
Like it's the last of me
Call it a curse
Call it disease
Or just say that I'm free
Whoa, let me be
The one to make it
Clear to see
This is how we were
Meant to be

Sit back, relax
Let us take control
While your mind is altered
Follow the light and finally see
This is how we were meant to be

Hell, yeah
Abandon leaders represent
The orders on the life
We'll for ourselves
And by ourselves
And we will never be swayed
So don't even bother trying
To keep us down
It's just a waste of your time
If you think that you can stop us
Then what the motherfuck
Are you waiting for?
Say what you wanna say
But in the end
We'll always leave you
Craving more

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
