"A Million Little Pieces" as written by and Stefan Olsdal Brian Molko....
There wasn't much I used to need
A smile would blow a summer breeze through my heart
Now my mistakes are haunting me
Like winter came and put a freeze on my heart

I've lost the power to understand
What it takes to be a man with my heart
I saw you wanted this to end
You tried your best to be a friend to my heart

But I'm leaving this worry town
Please no grieving, my love, understand?

Whenever I was feeling wrong
I used to go and write a song from my heart
But now I feel I've lost my spark
No more glowing in the dark for my heart

So I'm leaving this worry town
Please no grieving, my love, understand?

Understand?
Understand?
Understand?
Understand?

Understand? (Can't you see I'm sick of fighting?)
Understand? (Can't you tell I've lost my way?)
Understand? (Look at me theirs no denying)
Understand? (I wont last another day)

So I'm leaving this worry town
Please no grieving, my love, understand?

Then I'm leaving this worry town
Please no grieving, my love, understand?

All my dreaming torn in pieces
All my dreaming torn in pieces
All my dreaming torn in pieces
All my dreaming torn in pieces now

General CommentIn my opinion issues that occurred before the relationship are dragging him down and he not only knows it's ending the relationship, but he knows she/he knows. It's a kind of "I really wanted this to work, but we both know why it won't."

General CommentThis remind me so at him... Like it was written by him. I wish I could understand him better, after all. Or that he understands me. I wish I could get over freezing in his heart, his selfish ways. He lost his power to understand, his spark. I wish I could forgive his mistakes. I wish I could understand his leaving.. I wish I stopped grieving.... my love. But, I tried my best.. to be a friend to your heart.

General CommentTo me, this song is about the narrator having depression and how this affects someone very close to him. Despite their best attempts to help him, he ends up killing himself because he can't take life with this illness anymore, making this song a suicide note to them.

The first two and the fourth verses could be about how his life has become since he became depressed and what that does to him. The person close to him wants him to get better and tries to support him. But with things like 'Look at me, there's no denying' he's trying to tell them that it won't get better.

'Leaving this worry town' to me means that he ended the miserable life he was living.
Lines like 'Please no grieving, my love, understand?' could mean that he doesn't want them to feel guilty or sad, because he doesn't blame them for what he did to himself in the end. Maybe he even feels grateful for what they tried to do, but it didn't work for him anymore.

My InterpretationI have a strong opinion that this song is about depression.
He compares how it used to be to how "winter came and put a freeze on my heart".
The guy is in a bad emotional situation that affects his loved one also.
He feels the need to get away from it all - "i'm leaving this weary town" and start somewhere new because in the current situation he feels like he can't last another day - "understand? (I wont last another day)".
He begs his significant other to understand what he is going through and the fact that he needs to leave. He begs her to be at peace.
