Ooohh

Start me up, but then turn me off
And it rips like a motor and turns back off
Well I took a chance, yes I made it you
For we romanced in the front yard, target to miss

Bridge:

Baby, we can go so, even though we're animals
Nothing, you see, is going to stop me
No, cause I want you, even though you say no
Cause I want you, but no baby you don't

Chorus:

(Cause x1) I'm a fighter
I won't stay jealous
Cause I can't tell which way to go (x2)

Well cut me up, it just pissed me off
As I'm getting older, well I'm at a loss
I said I don't understand what made you change
Still all I can think about is that first night
Out in the rain, out in the rain

Bridge:

But oh baby, we can go so, even though we're animals
Nothing, you see, is going to stop me
No, cause I want you, even though you say no
Cause I want you, but no baby you don't

Chorus:

Cause I'm a fighter
I won't stay jealous
Cause I can't tell which way to go

I'm a fighter
I won't stay jealous
Cause I can't tell which way...let's go!

(Cause I said x1) I'm a fighter
I won't stay jealous
Cause I can't tell which way to go (x2)

Which way to go, way to go

So will you start me up?

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
