Where do you find yourself out here in the unknown?
Your mind starts to slip as you’ve fallen into the darkest depths
Where do you go?

How do you do it? These lives are ruined but you still hold on to your little secret how long can you keep it locked in your head?
You’ll be just fine x2
Oh no what have you done?

Picking back up right where you left off
Hasn’t she had enough?
Your life’s still a wreck but now there’s no one left

It’s spread across the walls how you really feel but you hoped for so much better
She never had a chance x2
You left her there still knowing that you’ve always had it wrong there’s still something to be done
Who will guide you?

Run, run away
The echoes they still haunt you as they scream

It was always through and through you made your decision now everyone’s a victim
You took her life, took her life
Now you’ll pay

It’s spread across the walls how you really feel but you hoped for so much better
She never had a chance x2
You left her there still knowing that you’ve always had it wrong there’s still something to be done
Who will guide you?

You’ll always see her eyes x2 (her eyes)
Why did you do this? How could you end her life like this?
How could you have known that this was the beginning of the end?
Of the end
All these questions have led you here (when will it end)
The only words you have left to say (hold your breath)

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
