In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Thank you for the translation. This song is hilarious...well, the video and dance moves are. I have a child who sings and dances to this song whenever it plays over the car radio. He entertains others at the stop lights. I sometimes join in with him after saying "what the hey...might as well have some fun." The reaction he gets from passerbys is priceless...some turn away (and try to drive away fast once the light changes); some smile; some looked shocked; and two so far have joined in with him. Music should make us smile; laugh; sing; or cry, providing it has artistic value. This song has the ability to get people to at least smile, so begrudging it (as many do) just seems wrong.
Those are the lyrics on all the lyrics sites, but they are absolutely horrible and don't encapsulate half of the actual meanings behind the lyrics. It looks like someone just took the lyrics and pasted ti into Google translate. I saw a much better translation a while back, but I've been unable to find it.
