Well I say it's just smoke
So you say it's the hair of ghosts
So I say it's the white hair of Poseidon
Ebbing in the tide in some dead sea

So you say it's some Shroud of Turin
And the sun wore it white and the earth wore it thin
Or the sun wore it white and His faith wore it thin
Unraveling heavenward
It's saddled to tiny birds
Or other such winged things
Either way they are struggling
Either way they are miniature
Either way they're invisible
But either way they're confused
As Hell would have them

And the pattern of flight is chaotic and blind
But it's right cause chaos is yours and it's mine
And chaos is luck and like love and love blind
The pattern of flight is chaotic and blind
But it's right cause chaos is yours and chaos is mine mine mine mine
And chaos is love and they say love is blind

But they're subject to hating us
Oh, just like the rest of us
Oh, but just like the best of us
They need the rest of us to stay alive
So thats not where confusion lies
That's not where illusions to the fact that the truth is just smoke in your eyes
Does lie

Confusion lies in which other wicked things do lie with
Confusion lies in which other wicked things do lie with
And chaos is yours
And chaos is mine
And chaos is love and they say love is blind

So I say oh I see now it's just smoke
So I say oh I see now it's just smoke
Oh I say oh I see now it's just smoke
Oh I say oh I see now it's just smoke

I'm pretty sure the song is just decribing a conversation about smoke.

He says its just smoke. Other person entertains that its the hair of ghosts (wouldn't that look like smoke?). He returns that its the white hair of poseidon and adds in more imagery. It starts to turn into a convo about religion. Shroud of Turin talk is about whether its the sun that wore it white and the earth that wore it thin or if its the son (of God... Jesus) that wore it white and his faith that wore it thin. Basically if religion is real or not, or at least the shroud of turin. But the smoke is made up of the shroud of turin and its being unravelled by tiny invisible birds that are struggling to make it rise.

Of course this is defined by chaos because of how smoke does rise. Then the whole chaos is luck, luck is love, and love is blind thing comes up and basically he is trying to logically tie chaos to being blind through luck and love in turn.

The next couple of verses I can't make too much sense of. I just think of it like... people need each other to survive. Maybe he's tying that to those birds and their chaos.

Anyways, in the end when he's saying so I say oh I see now its just smoke... he's either talking about the smoke really just being smoke or that the conversation is really just smoke because it doesn't really mean anything and isn't really meant to.

Reading over this a few more times im starting to perceive that maybe spencer is simply stating that no religion is right and all of this is chaos so i say oh i see now its just smoke you say its the hair of ghosts simply put i think hes just denouncing religion for it causing so much conflict between so many people who are all one in the same

... just going to put down the complete lyrics Spencer wrote...

I say it's just smoke So you say it's the hair of ghosts So I say it's the white hair of poseidon Ebbing in the tide in some dead sea So you say it's some Shroud of Turin And the sun wore it white and the earth wore it thin Or the son wore it white and his faith wore it thin

Unravelling heavenward - it's saddled to tiny birds Or other such winged things Either way they are struggling Either way they are miniature Either way they're invisible But either way they're confused as hell would have them And the pattern of flight is chaotic and blind But it's right because chaos is yours and it's mine And chaos is luck, and luck: love and love: blind (so) ba da da The pattern of flihgt is chaotic and blind But it's right cause chaos is yours And chaos is mine, mine, mine And chaos is love and they say "love is blind"

But they're subject to hating us, just like the rest of us But just like the best of us They need the rest of us to stay alive So that's not where confusion lies That's not where an allusion to the fact that the truth Is just smoke in your eyes does lie No Confusion lies in which other wicked thing to lie with And if chaos is yours then chaos is mine And chaos is love and they say "love is blind" So I say oh, I see now, it's just smoke...

The song's open for interpretation. I personally think that he's stating that truth is a matter of perspective and can... cloud an issue (the truth is just smoke in your eyes) so you can't see clearly. People are willing to argue and fight over something - the exact same thing - just because they think the single entity is different. So perhaps it is about God. Different religions and even different branches of the same religion are willing to go to hell and back to fight over something they actually agree about; but because they are not willing to see the other's perspective, they are blind to the fact it's the same damn thing. And we all need each-other, fights or not.

I think it's actually: So you say it's the Shroud of Turin- and The sun weren't white and his faith wore it thin-

This is another breathtaking song from Sunset Rubdown, though. I heartily recommend downloading it.

I actually thing the lines are:

"And chaos is yours, And chaos is mine And chaos is luck and like luck and love blind So I say, oh, I see now It's just smoke"

This is an amazing song. To me it is about religious fanatics of all faiths. He says, "So I say it's the white hair of Poseiden Ebbing the tide in some dead sea So you say it's ths shroud of Turin".
He is saying we all have different beliefs about God or higer powers. One may be Christian and another may be mythology. But all beliefs are bound by one common fact; they all base their beliefs on abstract "invisible" things like "wicked winged things" also known as angels or demons (depending on how you look at it). But then he says that all this leads us in chaotic lives but beware to write believers off as irratioinal because love is also chaotic and we all believe in love.

He goes on; "But they're subject to hating us Oh, just like the rest of us Oh, but just like the best of us They need the rest of us to stay alive" One group may be hated by another and wonder why, but if they look at them selves, they hate right back. And their leaders hate too! But if there were no believers, there would be no church or God HImself. He then ends the song by stateing. "So I say, oh, I see now It's just smoke" We are all fighting over things that don't really matter, getting obsessed an blinded by the smoke when there are more important things to get to.

These lyrics are pretty inaccurate. How is it possible to edit these lyrics? Do I have to edit the creator?

in the taming of the hands that came back to life he says do you think the second verse has to many violins

and in this song the second verse has violins so maybe he was mentioning this song

but i could be wrong just a guess

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
