There will be no hardcore love
Broken I stand here
My little creation
The stage of mystery
pick up ash
Make no mistake
The air me
My truth on
I try the
Just to feel alive
standing in my mothers room
And I watch them cry
We're not supposed to be here
Tonight I will sleep on the floor

-Chorus
All colours rushing back
Restoring frail life
We're broken here
We're ruined here

There are strangers in my house
Tripping over
And themselves too
Whitewash this disaster
I hope you're
I'm not blind

-Chorus X2

The voice of
Speaks within time
dedication
This world
I guess
Means nothing
Means nothing at all

Broken
Unbroken

-Chorus X4

We're broken here
We're

This song is probably the best one to ever be produced by Norma Jean, it has a lot of meaning and you can feel the emotion behind it when he sings it.

In my opinion it's about a young child that goes through an extreme hardship that corresponds to the death of a parent or very close family member and that he or she doesn't necesarilly understand, however, they kind of know what's going on.

"There will be no more color, Broken I stand here, A new creation, On the stage of history, Where map and compass mean nothing at all."

Everything that was familiar to he or she is lost and things have gone astray, it's a historical moment in their life and it has drained the happiness that they once knew. It's a new creation of emotion never felt before and their trying to learn how to handle it.

"The arrows are in me, My spirit drinks poison, I joined the avalanche just to feel alive."

The damage of what had happened is irreversable and the overall spirit and wellbeing is crushed by what's happened. I think the last part is a reference to how children and adolecents act out for attention because of a traumatic event in their lives. They do things to make themselves feel better because they don't know how to deal with the pain.

"I remember sitting in my mothers room, And I watched them cry, We're not supposed to be here, Tonight I will sleep on the floor, Oh, Such weight."

This shows what I meant by the child may not understand the pain caused by the event, by sitting there and seeing that kind of grief, they know something horrific has happened. They aren't supposed to be in this kind of position, so I see that lyric as him asking why this is happening. Kinda like this isn't supposed to happen, why are we here? He slept on the floor in the room to provide some form of colsolence, and to try to help out the situation. In essence to try to make his mother feel better because noone wants to see their mother in that kind of pain. The last part of this verse is hard but I look at it as how some children feel as though they might have had something to do with what's going on. So they feel partially responsible for the pain being felt by others, but they'll do anything to console them.

"There are strangers in my house, Tripping over themselves to white wash this disaster, I am young but I am not blind."

The people that are coming to a funeral maybe or to their home to give their condolences, are desperately trying to cover up what is really going on. They're looking at the child as being too young to understand what's going on, which in turn, is angering the child because he wants to know, and does kind of know what's going on. He's saying that he is young but he's not stupid.

"The voice of heaven speaks with time, Dedication, This will never fade, I guess the body means nothing."

This is the point of realization that as the child gets older, there is something out there much greater than themselves and there is no need to worry anymore. They now know that in time, they will again be reunited with that person they lost when it's their time and they are dedicating themselves to that realization of God and heaven. They will never forget that person, or what happened but they feel more at peace because these bodies are just a shell of our true forms found in heaven. There is a realization of everlasting life outside of this earth which helps them cope with what has happened.

    "Broken and unbroken."

These few words deserve their own piece because of how they day so much with so few letters. It shows of very low points in the beginning but with time and understanding the wounds are healed and one can find peace and solace in what has happened. You can also go through periods of extreme lows and then peacefulness and then go back to being down again and vice versa in a day to day basis.

"All colors rushing back, restoring frial life, we're broken here, we're ruined here."

This is a rather difficult chorus to translate for me. What it means to be is that the child has found happiness again in God and are submitting themselves to Him. They are crying out saying I'm broken and ruined, please help heal these wounds. That's how I look at it at least.

Overall a fantastic song and there are probably other interpretations to it but this is how I see it, enjoy! :)

(using context clues from the title) i think this is about a loved one dying from a childs point of view and everything that comes with death- finding out what happened, grief, mourning, wake, and finally funeral. although the child in the song is young, he realizes what is going on and knows that God takes care of the faithful.

The story goes that Corey's dad was a cop. whose partner was killed in action. On the way to his partner's funeral, he was hit and killed by a drunk driver.

I was playing Soul Calibur for Sega Dreamcast while listening to this album and he said the words "On This Stage of History" and it was right after I picked a character
where it says "Welcome back, to the stage of history" I wonder if those wonders came directly from Soul Calibur or
just subconsciously or maybe it's just a coincidence and Cory Brandon has never even played Soul Calibur still though it was a cool coincidence and it made me feel like the game goes really well with Norma Jean! It sounds so much cooler when Cory said it though

.> Im sure most of his lyrics are derived from video game lines that have no direct meaning to anything

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
