Huh, uh
Huh, huh, ah
Bitch Squad, 40 Water, uh

It's hard not to wake up and choose violence
Huh, had the mask on way before the virus
It's hard not to wake up and choose violence
Huh, had the mask on way before the virus
It's hard not to wake up and choose violence
Huh, had the mask on way before the virus
It's hard not to wake up and choose violence
Huh, had the mask on way before the virus

I don't fuck with hoe-ass niggas, I don't do it
Keep the same energy when I'm sober, on that fluid
Feel exhaust on my Cutlass, sound like a Harley muffler (vroom)
I'm thinkin' 'bout paintin' that motherfucker butter (butter)
I'm havin' that realer dope money, bitch, not no toddler (toddler)
And ain't nothin' about me sweet, I ain't no cobbler (cobbler)
They got me all the way motherfuckin' fucked up (fucked up)
If they put the gun down, I fuck 'em up (I fuck 'em up)
Can't take me nowhere, especially when I'm on that yak (yak, yak, yak)
I'll be zilled and be cuttin' up, I'll be zapped (zapped, zapped, zapped)
Some of my OGs doin' good, some of them relapsed (backslid)
Some of them act just like bitches, hop-scotch and jacks (hella wigs)
When there's game being givin', kick back and listen (okay)
I got my game from Vallejo, Richmond
My clientary just far as the eye can see (far)
Speak French to a bitch, ooh-la-la, oui-oui (that's a bar)

It's hard not to wake up and choose violence
Huh, had the mask on way before the virus
Big bank on my earrings like I'm Osiris
Tell your babe, "Bring me my FN to go hiffy"
I'm bullshit, what I'd like to be through my eyelids
Hey, dark tint on the whip, what I like to ride in
Hand me whoop in the whip, what we like to slide in
Uh, lemme holla at Doug
Uh, we gon' kill a nigga coach if they steps hard
Uh, pickin' plums, rollin' dope in my backyard
Uh, extra room in my garage, I need five cars
The driveway big as hell, full court large
Big stack of blues look like Marge
Pull up the foreign, extra smooth like El DeBarge
Spent another hundred thousand just 'cause I'm in charge
Extra bands on the way, squad here with them ARs

Say, it's hard not to wake up and choose violence
Hear a nigga, huh
Every nigga around here will make you wanna start a riot
All these bitches know it's cap right when I'm lyin'
I never feel bad when they with 'em dyin'
Bad bitch went outside, barely had a light
Ho ain't even got a man, but now she take his pipe
I'm just stuntin' like my Daddy, the dough feel nice

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
