Meet me in the middle of my mind, and no one else
I’ve been waiting here now for a while, I need your help
Like the time you tore my skin and all the world went blank
Never felt such real escape - It bled into the day

I stress talking so much that it hurts, then
Can’t speak but a word to a lover that was

I’m gonna paint myself aside, like something second in line
Just gonna paint myself aside, like something second in line

Meet me in the middle of the night; I never sleep
Since you told me all the secrets that I swore to keep
In my dreams I can make love to you without a fight
And sometimes I wonder if it’s wrong or if it’s right

I stress talking so much that it hurts, then
Can’t speak but a word to a lover that was

I’m gonna paint myself aside, like something second in line
Just gonna paint myself aside, like something second in line

Here, within the walls, I cannot take all the wreck involved (It’s contagious)
Here, within the walls, I cannot take it - all the wreck involved

Everyone’s taking their cards
As usual, I’ll be the Queen of Hearts

I’m gonna paint myself aside, like something second in line
Just gonna paint myself aside, like something second in line

I’m going silver
All over silver

ok i think this song is kinda confusing but this is what i got from it:

"Like the time you tore my skin and all the world went blank" A guy is changing her, at least how she appears on the outside and she's kinda surprised by it and intrigued.

"I stress talking so much that it hurts, then Can't speak but a word to a lover that was " she starts to want to speak up and preserve some of herself but cant seem to find the right way to say it

she states that she is going to "paint" her old self and set it aside, as if saving it for a later date. she thinks that she can go back to her ways eventually and be able to be both herself and who the guy wants her to be.

"Meet me in the middle of the night; I never sleep Since you told me all the secrets that I swore to keep" she stays awake at night thinking about who shes become. i think the burden of knowing all of the guys secrets is a part of her transformation. in her mind, she can see them at peace and fantasizes about it, but sometimes feels guilty doing so.

"Here, within the walls, I cannot take all the wreck involved (Its contagious)" shes is getting so stressed out and cant handle the drama and difficulty of this relationship and how its changed her. she feels like he has built up her walls that she keeps around herself, that he was the reason for them. shes realizing that she cant go on like this.'

"ill be the queen of hearts, as usual" she will be the one who bears all of the emotions and feelings and secrets, as usual

"im going silver" she knows this is just how her relationships go and is lookign at it with a different perspective. i think of silver as in new and shiny. she's changed and its for good

this song kinda confused me but this is how it seemed to me. im curious to see other interpretations! :)

    Song Meaning

This song is about being in love with a past lover and being willing to redesign your intentions to suit their needs or wants once they've decided to terminate a relationship. It's about keeping them in your heart, even though you can't display the kind of affection or "speak but a word" to the person who used to be your lover, but clearly not wanting to lose communication with them as a friend entirely (I can't take all the wreck involved) because you can't contain your feelings.

Gen states that she's going to put her desires towards her former lover aside ("paint myself aside like something second in line") for the sake of his happiness, stepping aside for his sake, but secretly desires nothing more than for him to come to her in her dreams and make love to her- a topic that confuses her moral compass. To close, she states that "everyone is taking their cards", choosing their roles- and states that (as usual) she'll be the queen of hearts, presumably by containing her feelings and resolving to become "silver", or secondary in his eyes by resorting to being her past lover's friend.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
