Oooh I wish...
Oooh I wish...

I walked into this life a lover
And I was carrying a deep hope for you
I lit up like a fire
I watched you from afar
A blazing, burning star
I came alive, a new design
The tree of life is what you are

Oooh I wish you felt this way
You'd say
Oh, baby, it's not a game
Oohh I wish you felt this way
You'd stay
You'd take the pain away
Will you stay?
You take away the pain

So tell me, do you fear this
'Cause you're not sure what's required?
And do you hear this?
You're not expected to be forthright
You're so profound, but you're not found
And if I could, I'd just claim you

Oooh I wish you felt this way
You'd say
Oh, baby, it's not a game
Oooh I wish you felt this way
You'd stay
You'd take the pain away
Ah, you'd stay
You'd take away the pain

Ooh...
I came alive
Ooh...
A new design
You were designed, yeah
Oooh...

Oooh I wish...
Oooh I wish...
Oooh I wish...
Oooh I wish...

Oooh I wish you felt this way
You'd say
Oh, baby, it's not a game
Oooh I wish you felt this way
You'd say
Oh, baby, it's not a game
Oh you'd stay
You take the pain away
Oh, you'd stay
You take away the pain

this song is everything i love about eisley.

i believe it sums up that whimsical feeling you get when you're infatuated with someone you can't have. all you think about is how badly you want to be with them but they're not interested. you see so much in them and you know they'd be so perfect for you, but they just don't get it. i can definitely relate to that frustration. i think it's a beautiful song about wishful thinking, which happens to all of us at some point. we all want someone we can't have. all we can do is wish.

    Lyric Correction

I think you have most of it correct, just a few corrections, or at least this is what I hear:

Oooh, I wish Oooh, I wish

I walked into this life a lover And I was carrying a deep hope for you A little pack of fire I watched you from afar A blazing, blooming star I came alive un-designed The tree of life is what you are

Oooh, I wish you felt this way You say, "Oh baby, it's not a game" Oooh, I wish you felt this way You say, "you take the pain away" You say, "you take away the pain"

So tell me, do you fear this? Cause you're not sure what's required And do you hear this? You're not expected to be forthright You're so profound, but you're not found And if I could, I'd just claim you

Oooh, I wish you felt this way You say, "Oh baby, it's not a game" Oooh, I wish you felt this way You say, "you take the pain away" You say, "you take away the pain"

Oooh, oh, oh, oh I came alive Oooh, oh, oh, oh A new design Oooh, oh, oh, oh You were designed, yeah

    Oooh, I wish(x4)

Oooh, I wish you felt this way You say, "Oh baby, it's not a game" Oooh, I wish you felt this way You say, "Oh baby, it's not a game" You say, "you take the pain away" You say, "you take away the pain"

I cannot believe how much they've matured instrumentally, vocally, lyrically... This whole album gives me the chills.

I just think it's about someone being a little shaky in a relationship, not sure how they feel or where they want to go with the other person.

The "oooh" breakdown around 2 minutes... a Say Anything influence? I love it a LOT!

    My Interpretation

Definitely one of my favorite Eisley songs. Strikes a chord in me.

I personally feel that it's describing the early stages of a relationship, the stage before one becomes "official" and "committed" to it. A relationship with someone you find you actually really like a lot. I think it's suggested that the singer experienced a few disappointments in the past, but upon seeing/meeting this new person, had a renewed hope; "lit up like a fire", "came alive", was refreshed again by the feeling of really liking someone and the possibility of starting a new relationship. ("the tree of life is what you are")

The singer knows what she feels, but can't be sure of her interest's feelings; she wishes and hopes that he feels the same way, even though he expresses that his feelings are genuine: "You take the pain away, oh, baby, it's (his feelings are) not a game."

He's still a little unsure though, because he maybe isn't sure of how to go about this new relationship, is "not sure what's required", or whether or not he's "expected to be forthright". But the singer obviously wants to start the relationship for real; they're not truly together yet "you're so profound, but you're not found", but if he would just get over his hesitations, she'd claim him in a second.

Just my take on it anyways. I think Sherri is a little more literal in her lyrics than Stacy.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
