The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
Well I had to have been programmed
For anything but this
And to be honest you weren't a mark I'd aim to miss
With your ten gallon hat and the spurs on your shoes
It's everything in me that wants to kill you
So lay me down, I'll smoke you out
You won't make a sound, I'll find you without
It was a mad man
Who put this in my head
A virus that makes me want all cowboys dead
With this gun on my arm and this look in my eye
Bitch you better know that it's time to die
Lay me down, I'll smoke you out
You won't make a sound, I'll find you without x2
I'll put holes in your chest, with my laser cannons
I'm gonna rip of your head, I want all cowboys dead x2
I'm gonna rip of your head, I want all cowboys dead x2

what album is this on?
yo, I just saw this. I'm aware it's been a while, but I figure if no one has responded yet they probably never will.

It's from a split the wonder years did with the band "Emergency and I" that was released in 2006. I'm not sure if it's online, unfortunately.
