It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M
Just put your paws up 'cause you were born this way, baby

My mama told me when I was young
We are all born superstars

She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir

"There's nothing wrong with loving who you are"
She said, "'Cause he made you perfect, babe"
"So hold your head up girl and you'll go far
Listen to me when I say"

I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby I was born this way

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way (born this way)

Oh there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way (born this way)
Oh there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Right track baby I was born this way

Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Don't be, don't be, don't be

Give yourself prudence
And love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice your truth

In the religion of the insecure
I must be myself, respect my youth

A different lover is not a sin
Believe capital H-I-M (hey hey hey)
I love my life, I love this record and
Mi amore vole fe, yah (same D.N.A.)

I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way

Oh there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way (born this way)
Oh there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
I'm on the right track, baby I was born this way

(Way) Don't be
(Don't be)
(Way) Church

Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Whether you're broke or evergreen
You're black, white, beige, chola descent
You're Lebanese, you're Orient
Whether life's disabilities
Left you outcast, bullied, or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
'Cause baby you were born this way

No matter gay, straight, or bi
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to be brave

I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby I was born this way

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way yeah

Oh there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way (born this way)
Oh there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
I'm on the right track, baby I was born this way

I was born this way hey
I was born this way hey
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey

I was born this way hey
I was born this way hey
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey

Same D.N.A. But born this way
Same D.N.A. But born this way

I love it. It reminds me of "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. I know, not exactly the same music, but the lyrics are somewhat similar in the meaning. The difference is probably that she speaks more openly about accepting homosexuality, which I think is a really good thing (and about time someone this famous does).

I don't get the comparisons with Madonna's "Express Yourself". Actually, I personally don't get any comparisons between GaGa and Madonna. If you read about GaGa you'll discover that Madonna wasn't really an influence for her. Andy Warhol is. But I understand why people would compare her to Madonna considering that Madonna has pretty much done everything. Still, time to move on people! GaGa is doing her own thing.

In conclusion, I predict this will be the new anthem for the LGBT communities. ;)

Firstly, when she says 'capital H-i-m, she is not referring to Satan. She's meaning, whether you love him, him being another man, or capital H-i-m, meaning God. So, whether you love another man (homosexual) or God, it's irrelevant, you're perfect since you were born that way.

I don't like how she gets so religious by mentioning God at all. I don't believe in a God, personally, and trying to say F-U to all those wing-nut evangelicals is a waste of breath. They don't deserve a single bit of attention, nor does an made up being they created.

The meaning is pretty easy to decipher since the lyrics are, admittedly, very weak and shallow. It's got a good beat and although I think of 'Express Yourself' when I hear this, I don't think it's an all-out remake. The racial remarks are nothing to bitch over. A rapper can say, 'nigger', in their lyrics and all we do is bleep it out, end of story. The minute a white girl says, 'chola', or 'orient', she's a demon and should be burned. When a word becomes taboo like that, it gives the word more power. Seriously, stop being so sensitive.

Definitely not her strongest work, by any means but, it sends a generally positive message and has a pretty good sound. Remains to be seen whether her next single, 'Jude', is any better.

She said she wrote this song in 10 minutes, so I don't think she was trying too hard to write the best song in the world. I think it really is more about the message. She's famous and she knows it, and I think she decided to take that power and use it to talk about something she strongly believes in.

In my opinion, I don't really care if it is a knockoff of "Express Yourself' by Madonna. The song has a good meaning it.

As for the meaning, I think if you go from Gaga's perspective it is about her saying "Fuck you I'm gonna do what I want." Then for a meaning to everyone it just accept people who for they are no matter who they are.

CrossPixieKiki, you say you won't judge anyone, but you start your post by calling previous posters idiots? Seems pretty judgmental to me.

I agree completely with artist in disguise. She most definitely was using her fame to show her support for something she truly believes in.

I find it funny how people take the time to point out the fact that she mentions the LGBTQ community but avoids the fact that she also speaks about different races twice as much.

It's all about equality. Yes, it's for that gay boy. Yes, it's for that asian girl. Yes, it's for that person with red hair and freckles. Yes, it's for that girl who was born with a physical/mental disability. It's for anyone who has ever been judged for something they can't help or judged for being who they are. You were born the way you are for a reason.

She's a hero to millions of people, and an inspiration. And my girlfriend happens to be one of those people.

It's about loving yourself for all the good that's inside. It's recognizing the warts but concentrating on the positives (for we each have both good and bad). Our differences are what make this world fascinating (if we choose to look hard and deep enough). It's the I AM A BEAUTIFUL INDIVIDUAL anthem regardless of what others see (or don't see) and regardless if I am sometimes down on myself or feel as though others offer more than I ever could.

You do know that all chords have been done and it would seem to be copied sometimes. Scientists confirmed this.

This isn't a song, it's just Lady Gaga shouting from a soapbox.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
