I'm going through changes
I'm going through changes

Lately, I really feel like I'm rollin' for delf like Philly
Feel like I'm losing control of myself
I sincerely apologize if all that I sound like
Is I'm complainin', but life keeps on complicatin' and
I'm debatin' on leavin' this world this evenin'
Even my girls can see I'm grievin'
I try and hide it but I can't
Why do I act like I'm all high and mighty
When inside I'm dyin'? I am finally realizin' I need
Help, can't do it myself, too weak
Two weeks, I've been havin' ups and downs
Goin' through peaks and valleys
Dilly-dallyin' 'round with the idea
Of endin' this shit right here
I'm hatin' my reflection
I walk around the house tryna fight mirrors
I can't stand what I look like, yeah
I look fat, but what do I care? I give a fuck
Only thing I fear's Hailie
I'm afraid if I close my eyes
That I might see her, shit

I'm going through changes
I'm going through changes

I lock myself in the bedroom, bathroom, nappin' at noon
Yeah, dad's in a bad mood, he's always snappin' at you
Marshall, what happened that you can't stop with these pills?
And you've fallen off with your skills and your own fans are laughin' at you
It become a problem you're too pussy to tackle? Get up
Be a man, stand, a real man woulda had this shit handled
Know you just had your heart ripped out and crushed
They say Proof just flipped out, homie just whipped out and bust
Nah, it ain't like Doody to do that
He wouldn't fuckin' shoot at nobody, he'd fight first
But dwellin' on it only makes the night worse
Now I'm poppin' Vics, Percs and Methadone pills
"Yeah, Em, tight verse, you killed it"
Fuckin' drug dealers hangin' 'round me like yes men
And they gon' do whatever I says when I says it
It's in their best interest to protect their investment
And I just lost my fuckin' best friend, so fuck it, I guess then

(I'm going through changes)
Don't know what I'm gonna do (I'm going through changes)
But I just keep on going through changes

My friends can't understand this new me, that's understandable
Man, but think how bananas you'd be, you'd be an animal too
If you were trapped in this fame and caged in it like a zoo
And everybody's lookin' at you, what you want me to do?
I'm startin' to live like a recluse
And the truth is, fame's startin' to give me an excuse
To be at a all-time low, I sit alone in my home theater
Watchin' the same damn DVD of the first tour
The last tour he was still alive
And it hurts so I fast forward, sleeping pills'll make me feel alright
And if I'm still awake in the middle of the night
I'll just take a couple more, yeah, you're motherfuckin' right
I ain't slowin' down for no one, I am almost homeward bound
Almost in a coma, yeah, homie, come on, dole 'em out
"Daddy, don't you die on me, Daddy, better hold your ground"
Fuck, don't I know the sound of that voice? Yeah, baby, hold me down (daddy)

(I'm going through changes)
(Daddy)
Don't know what I'm gonna do (I'm going through changes)
But I just keep on going through changes

Wake up in the hospital, full of tubes
But somehow I'm pullin' through
Swear when I come back I'ma be bulletproof
I'ma do it just for Proof, I think I should state a few facts
'Cause I may not get a chance again to say the truth
Shit, it just hit me that what if I would not've made it through?
I think about the things I woulda never got to say to you
I'd never get to make it right, so here's what I came to do
Hailie, this one is for you, Whitney and Alaina too
I still love your mother, that'll never change
Think about her every day
We just could never get it together, hey
Wish there was a better way for me to say it
But I swear on everything, I'd do anything for her on any day
There are just too many things to explain, when it rains
Guess it pours, yes, it does, wish there wasn't any pain
But I can't pretend there ain't, I ain't placin' any blame
I ain't pointin' fingers, Heaven knows I never been a saint
I know that it feels like we just pissed away our history
And just today I looked at your picture, almost if to say
I miss you subconsciously, wish it didn't end this way
But I just had to get away, don't know why
I don't know what else to say, I guess I'm

(I'm going through changes)
Don't know what I'm gonna do (I'm going through changes)
But I just keep on going through changes

Eminem is sending a personal message to his ex that he still loves her and wants her back. But he wants her to know that he wants to do it without anyone butting any blame on the other. He wants to get back with her mutually.. and for good.

What a fucking sick ass song, man. This is by far the best on the album.

And the line, "I'd do anything for her on any day" should read "I'LL do anything."

He is talking to her in the PRESENT. He is talking to her personally RIGHT NOW. Listen to the song very carefully.

    Eminem's is a fucking genius!

I love the whole metaphor this song represents.

It basically describes how he 'died' and then came back to life. Talks of how he became depressed after Proof died and how it affected his life so much. The last verse is a message to his daughters, not to his wife that he wants her back. He is explaining to his daughters that as much as he loves their mother, they don't work together, but he will always care for her.

    Beautiful.

    Song Meaning

This song is speaking about multiple things.

One of the bigger meanings of the song is Eminem almost dying. In an interview Eminem speaks about almost dying because he had overdoesed on a specific prescription pill. After going through that whole ordeal he decided it was time to make a change, get clean and return to the rap game and become a better father for his daughters. And become a better person. That's why he says he's going through changes.

This is probably the best song on recovery. why? bc the name of this song fits the idea of the name of the cd...RECOVERY.

The song is filled with all of eminems emotion which is why it is so great bc you can feel that, it actually almost made me cry the first time i really understood what he was saying.

He talks about everything he has gone through the past few years including, over eating, daytime napping, pill addiction, the thought of committing suicide multiple times, sorrow at the loss of his best friend proof and even finishes with a note to his daughters after he made his Recovery about the sorrow he also has about his relationship with kim.

After the first 3 verses, where he tells us all that hes going through, the 3rd one ends with him almost like falling in and out of conciousness and him hearing hailies voice which is what helps him pull through bc he doesnt no what will happen to her if he dies. i think thats a great effect he added in that hook. When he wakes up in the hospital he says hes gonna be "bulletproof" bc proof was actually shot and killed by a bullet.

What also makes this song so great is that anyone who can relate to what eminem is saying (it deosnt have to be with drugs or suidice, just GOING THROUHGH CHANGES in general during life) can really feel empathy with all the emotion eminem put into this song. I really thought there were gonna be more songs like this and Love The Way You Lie on recovery

one of the best songs imo because of it's personal level. the passion he speaks of his daughters and proof makes his new music worth listening to even if he can't rap about being poor or doing drugs anymore. btw, "not afraid" lyrics don't belong on this page.

    My Opinion

Wow, the fourth verse is very powerful. He obviously feels very strongly for Kim, despite all they've been through.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
