Follow me back like a ride on a train
Make it hard to remember the cold
Take care of your money and stay out of the rain
Your bones could give out when you’re old
I get more of a feeling from words that have truth
A feeling like something is wrong

Let the door slide open, let the sunlight in
Call my name girl, Sorrow

All of the times that I heard you sing
I hoped there parts there for me
I’d sing all the notes that stay out of your way
We can let all those melodies free
I think I was meant for an uglier time
My harmony’s all out of tune

Let the verse slide over let the chorus in
Call my name girl, Sorrow

We’ll be out of the dark when the seasons pass
But you have to live now or you won’t
Put your gloves on your hands, wear your winter skin
Cause it’s over before you say August
All your friends will await your return
With the car doors open and the radio on
Call my name girl, Sorrow

Sorrow oooo

    My Interpretation

I see this song as being sung from the perspective of Sorrow itself, pining for some sort of happiness. He is clinging to this girl who was going through a bad time (and so spent some time with Sorrow), but is now starting to feel better and come out of the slump she was in. Sorrow is having trouble letting go, because he knows that he will be alone again once the girl is gone. So all he can hope for is that she will remember him, and every once in a while call his name.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
