Do you remember standing on a broken field
White crippled wings beating the sky
The harbingers of war with their nature revealed
And our chances flowing by

If I can let the memory heal
I will remember you with me on that field

When I thought that I fought this war alone
You were there by my side on the frontline
When I thought that I fought without a cause
You gave me a reason to try

Turn the page I need to see something new
For now my innocence is torn
We cannot linger on this stunted view
Like rabid dogs of war

I will let the memory heal
I will remember you with me on that field

When I thought that I fought this war alone
You were there by my side on the frontline
And we fought to believe the impossible
When I thought that I fought this war alone
We were one with our destinies entwined
When I thought that I fought without a cause
You gave me the reason why

With no-one wearing their real face
It's a whiteout of emotion
And I've only got my brittle bones to break the fall

When the love in letters fade
It's like moving in slow motion
And we're already too late if we arrive at all

And then we're caught up in the arms race
An involuntary addiction
And we're shedding every value our mothers taught

So will you please show me your real face
Draw the line in the horizon
Cos I only need your name to call the reasons why I fought

When I thought that I fought this war alone...

    My Interpretation

I think it isn't literally about war, but the battles we fight every day. Life is hard, "With no-one wearing their real face" - lots of lies and deceit, "shedding every value our mothers taught". But love gives our lives meaning, something to fight for. "You gave me a reason to try", "And we fought to believe the impossible" - the impossible probably being that everyone in the world would love each other. Which is easier to strive for when you got someone "by your side on the frontlines" who you can trust - "So will you please show me your real face".

This song is awesome! I love the lyrics and the melody! I think it talks about actual war and as a soldier the only thing keeping him going on was his girlfriend. When it says "When the love in letters fade It's like moving in slow motion" probably means that his girl left him and now he doesn't know what and why to do anything. That's why in the end says "Cos I only need your name to call the reasons why I fought".

If anyone haven't played Alan Wake by now, go do it already. This song fits so perfectly.

They are really awesome without a doubt. Lyrics, the accoustic twist on the songs, the emotions that awakens, and the melody. Stunning.

I love this song. Fell in love with it the moment I heard it. I do think it's about war. But I interpret some of it as meaning that two people; lovers, friends, family, etc.; standing together to face the 'corruption', if you will.

I've always liked this song, but it's recently taken on a new level of importance for me. I've been dealing with a lot of emotional baggage from a failed relationship, and a close friend of mine has been going through similar issues. She listens to me complain and vent about whatever is on my mind, and in return she has my ear whenever she needs someone to talk to.

Hearing the song again after all this has happened, I see that it describes us pretty accurately. For the longest time, I though I was alone and dealing with all of these issues on my own. But after thinking about it, I realize she's been there helping me through this the entire time. Not once has she become annoyed with my sometimes excessive venting. Nor has she ever dismissed my concerns in any way.

Although we both seem to have too many emotional scars for anything more to come from our relationship, I am eternally thankful for having her by my side and being able to call her my friend. I love you, S. Your friendship means more to me than you may ever know! =)

To me this seems like Marko's thankyou to the fans for all their support over the years. Any band ever will tell you of their struggles with garage fame, playing the same gigs in the same towns over and over, waiting for your big break... but now they've got international recognition it seems like he's saying 'Thanks, everyone. I thought we'd be playing garage gigs for the rest of my days, but you were with us all along and we're so grateful.'

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
