Beyond the satellites
Sweet candy populous
A worry free entrance into the world's history
Never underestimate
Never think beyond their thoughts
The satellites have been trapped
and Cloud Mountain will carry on the commands of our ancestors

Indeed we work from here
We have for centuries
Hearing every breath
Watching every disease
(You must accept this truth)

Below the satellites
The leaders are driving to the farthest retreat.
Sit back, relax, enjoy the ride
They have been speaking for years
Every night while you are asleep
they have been discussing what the future holds for us all
The outer space takeover.
Worlds collide in a dreary pre-determined idea
brought by our fellow night owls
Their stories have been mocked
Their ideas have been crushed
But after last night they control
every idea we will think from here on out

A government overthrown
We have come to tell you all that we could have prepared for this

The night owl speaks overhead
The apocalypse (at least our apocalypse)
will happen sooner than we think
If we don't read the journals our station has prepared for you all
We call ourselves the "night owls"
We've roamed the earth for years and kept your world afloat
We've made it so you stay comfortable in your precious homes
While you sleep,we discuss.
Discuss our future
Your future

Our journals give detailed instructions on the machines
and weapons we must build
These are weapons that none of you
would even begin to think could harm the outside world
Everything you know is false
Your first instinct is now your last.
Like I've said before
We have been discussing and planning this for decades
(Trust is essential)
We don't have time to explain everything,
But just know that everything will soon change.

Trust us and we will all be safe.
We are the new government.

Before the satellites
In simple times we must take control.
With simple skies we create
More sky
A simple land we must change
For man
Is god
A simple life we must break
How fast we grow
We must move on

The last 5 minutes of the song i feel like are about us as humans right now, always finding new things that we didn't previously understand, and we're very stubborn about things we believe in.

I feel like Tommy is telling everyone to take control of our human race. We can create and change, man is god, and the thought of religion is almost childish to believe. As an organism we just didn't know any better at the time, "A simple life we must break, for man is god".

"With simple skies we create more sky" - What was once just lights in the sky is now an entire universe filled with endless amounts of possibilities.

"How fast we grow" is almost like.. looking back, how far we have come, how much farther the human race has to go to achieving anything even notable on a universal scale.

We must move on. That's how I see it at least.

okay so I figured it out... these 5 men are aliens themselves, sent to warn us of the impending doom about to befall our entire earthly civilization in so many ways, wrought by siblings of their own kind. Think about how they blend the BEST singular elements from every damn musical style known to man into a soup to warm your soul in the darkest, coldest place in your mind. They are drug-free and are all vegan or at least vegatarian (and even if you eat meat, that's fine, but the way we manufacture it today is garbage) I'm ashamed to admit I don't practice all of these things, but I CAN see the good in them. Their religious affiliation appears to be null, though they seem "spiritual"... it's almost too good.. nah screw that, it's awesome. I notice how the smart ones really latch on to it, as if this sound was a beacon to the would-be heroes of a forsaken race.....us. I hate to sound like a worshiper, or an elitist, but damn it's good. I guess Avatar 3D did something to my brain.... best movie ever btw.

    the end.

Best song on the Album for sure. and i think The Great Misdirect quite frankly tops Colors. i think Colors is the Best METAL album that Between The Buried and Me have ever written, but TGM is so much more than a metal album. Overall it is just a more mature musically diverse album, and to me some of the highlights of the album are the softer and less technical songs. This just shows how diverse this band truly is and how they can excel in any musical environment. Overall, this is the best Album these guys have put out.

To me this song describes the Global Elite's domination. The "night owls" are symbolizing the Bohemian Grove, one of the faction's of the New World Order. The whole song is from their perspective, speaking to the mass population, describing that we need to trust them without limits or our safety will fall. This fear mongering is how they continue to operate.

The end of the song is telling us, the people, how to take control of our oppressors and make the world a better place.

By the way, I LOVE how in the beginning has the quirky honky tonky piano, which sounds very harmless until the menacing guitar comes in. This in itself is symbolism for the meaning of the song, how something so harmless looking can be the true evil.

I signed up to this site just to comment this song. Apparently no one else but me noticed the reference to donkey kong country in the opening keyboard riff. Everyone I ask about this has no idea what I'm talking about then they listen to eat and realize.

lets break down the title. fossil - A remnant or trace of an organism of a past geologic age, such as a skeleton or leaf imprint, embedded and preserved in the earth's crust.

genera (plural for genus) - A class of objects divided into subordinate species having certain common attributes.

feed: program transmitted by network to affiliates for broadcast, usu. sent out before airtime; recording of event or live report transmitted to studio

I believe cloud mountain is a place that's trying to tell us whats going to happen as they have gone through it before. they are a people not aloud to think for themselves every part of their lives are controlled.

the nightowls are a group thats trying to overthrow the government and control ever aspect of peoples lives.

the before the satellites part is the present, where things are simpler, and how fast we will soon outgrow this life we are accustomed to.

    Song Meaning

I'm actually kind of surprised no one's taken a hard crack at this song so I'm going to go out on a limb.

To understand this song, you need to first understand that BTBAM is more of a Christian band than people often realize. While that is not their primary marketing or focus and most of their members are more openly straight edge or vegan before they are openly religious, many songs and music videos have very obvious Christian themes, ESPECIALLY this one.

With that in mind, they are not fans of America- the name The Great Misdirect as well as the album art should make this clear. Most of this album focuses on how western society has distracted, manipulated, and controlled the public to prevent us questioning the world around us. Fossil Genera is kind of the midpoint climax of the album with an interesting new revelation to the story.

The song is told from the perspective of unknown entities who live on "Cloud Mountain." In all cultures from Judaism to Ancient Greece to Tibet, various gods, angels, dragons, or other mystical beings have always lived high above commoners, often mountains. In the Book of Enoch, the disobedient angels who abandoned God to side with Lucifer are referred to as Watchers or Grigori (where we get the name Gregory, meaning 'alert' or 'watchful') and all of these beings observe human life from high up in some mountain, whether it's Mount Hermon, Mount Olympus, the Himalayas, etc.

Anywho, these entities have gone by a wide variety of names and labels throughout different cultures. In the 20th century, however, what has pop culture decided to call these high and mighty beings who bestow wisdom, technology, and other blessings from above to humanity? Aliens.

The Ancient Aliens debate started with a man named Zacharia Sitchin who interpreted the Sumerian word for their gods, "Annunaki," which means "those who from the heavens came," literally as aliens. This has sparked an immense amount of false information regarding these beings and a very chronocentric and ignorant way of looking at world history. Personally, I don't believe literally in "aliens" because faster-than-light intergalactic travel is more or less scientifically impossible. What IS possible however is travel between dimensions, i.e. wormholes and dimensional gates. So if these beings are from another dimension, I find it hard to believe that they are literal aliens and not spirits, demons, fallen angels, etc.

Whatever you call these beings, they are real. They have secretly interacted with our planets government leaders for thousands of years and have given us technology, wisdom, science, etc. in exchange for certain favors. What kinds of favors? We don't exactly know. Maybe to study human life. Maybe so we could build occult, astrological monuments like the great pyramids and the Stonehenge to create dimensional gates to allow them further access to our three dimensional plane. Who knows? The point is that they've been here for a long time and they're not going anywhere anytime soon.

The Bible and the Book of Enoch further explain that these Watchers descended to Earth to create half-human/half-angelic beings called Nephilim who became mighty warriors, giants, priests, and kings in the ancient world. Since all US presidents are related to European royalty and all European royalty to the kings, emperors, and pharaohs of Rome, Greece, Egypt, and Sumeria, these same half-divine bloodlines have controlled the whole planet for thousands of years. This is further supported by the fact that from the Mayans to the Hittites to the Druids to the Vikings we see the exact same pagan blood sacrifice cults with the same gods, rituals, imagery, and social structures on every continent.

Fossil Genera explores these entities' conspiratorial deals made with world leaders for the purposes of "uniting" humanity with war, famine, disease, disaster, etc. until we become so physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted that we will welcome a new one world government and one world religion united under the worship of these entities and the reign of the Antichrist.

It's quite a simple song yet it requires incredible mental leaps and an understanding of comparative mythology, religion, world history, and a little bit of insanity to completely grasp. It's a harsh truth mixed in with vague lyrics to avoid offending and terrifying their fan base. I recommend the book The Atlantean Conspiracy as well as basically anything on bibliotecapleyades.com/ or saturndeathcult.com/ to further elaborate on these seemingly ludicrous claims.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
