(Our love was lost)
Hey, hey, haha (where'd you go? Where'd you)
(But now we've found it)
Oh yeah, uh (where'd you go? Where'd you go? Where'd you go?)
(Our love was lost, oh, lost)
Doin' the happy dance (where'd you, where'd you go?)
(And hope was gone)
Doin' the happy dance (where'd you go? Haha)
Doin' the happy dance (haha, yeah)

(Our love was lost)
Where'd you go? What'd you do?
How the hell you make me fall in love with you? (But now we've found it)
And then you leave, now you're gone
All I got is this damn song (and if you flash your heart)
So I can feel but I can't touch (oh, heart)
You said my love was a bit too much (I won't deny it)
Broke my heart, can't find no crutch
So why don't you come on back home? (Can I spit?)

Hey, I'm a fuckin' workaholic with a passion in my heart
Treatin' rappin' as a art in which you have to be apart of
I just copped a new car to hear it start up
Try to do the right thing and please karma
All I want to know is
Where the fuck did you have to go?
I've been waitin' on you, baby
Why don't you leave and come on home?
I can't be mad, I'm livin' my dream
(Goin' all around the globe)
Though you said you think you love me
(You need to let me know)
So I've been fuckin' all these hoes
And I've been blowin' all this cash
'Cause, baby, this just the beginnin'
And I'ma make all of it back

(Our love was lost)
Where'd you go? What'd you do?
How the hell you make me fall in love with you? (But now we've found it)
And then you leave, now you're gone
All I got is this damn song (hey, hey, hey) (and if you flash your heart)
So I can feel but I can't touch (hey, hey, hey) (oh, heart)
You said my love was a bit too much (hey) (I won't deny it)
Broke my heart, can't find no crutch
So why don't you come on back home? (Hey, hey, hey)

It's all good, everybody tryna eat tonight
Tryna go to sleep, havin' good dreams tonight
You go home, it might get better
All I know, it don't last forever
So take it while you got it, try to get a little more
They say I'm gettin' better than I ever been before
Well, that's for sure, tell 'em what I do
Rap keep me fed like a spoon gettin' soup
I've been out here on the road and now they missin' me at home
All these ex-girls that I used to know are hittin' up my phone
But I ain't here, I guess you can call back
Sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll, I think I'll take all that

(Our love was lost)
Where'd you go? What'd you do?
How the hell you make me fall in love with you? (But now we've found it)
And then you leave, now you're gone
All I got is this damn song (and if you flash your heart)
So I can feel but I can't touch (oh, heart)
You said my love was a bit too much (I won't deny it)
Broke my heart, can't find no crutch
So why don't you come on back home?

Yeah
Huh-huh, and it gets no better than this
Huh, yeah, it gets no better than this
Yeah, it gets no better, yeah, it gets no better
Yeah, it gets no better, this shit forever
Get no better, it get no better
Yeah, it get no better, yeah, this shit forever
Bum-bada-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum, ba-dum
You can cut it here and then we're done

'Our love was lost. In the rubble are all the things that you've,you've been dreaming of. Keep me in mind, When you're ready I am here To take you every time.'

Such beautiful lyrics. And the way the music stops before those lines and then all comes in at once is amazing. The way it builds through the lines to 'our love was lost, lost, lost, lost...'just gives me chills. It's amazing.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
