I was wondering why not all the lyrics here were 100% correct because they're on the insert for the vinyl LP, but when I bought the CD today I saw the booklet didn't have them.

This song has a 1980s feel to it. Natasha Khan (aka Bat For Lashes) explained to BBC's Newsbeat: "Well, I've always been an '80s girl, and I think [on] the first record I was quite shy really and I wanted to just keep it how I'd been playing it in my bedroom. I grew up listening to The Cure and I loved early Madonna and Prince and all of that stuff, so I think what prompted me was just probably having more confidence to kind of reach out and reveal even more of myself and what I love and not be too shy about it."

For the first lines: "You know my darling I can't stand to sleep alone No sweetheart in the dark to call my own" I think that she's talking about how sleeping by yourself at night is lonely because it's so much nicer to sleep next to someone and when you don't have this anymore you really miss it, which I think is really shown in the line "No sweetheart in the dark to call my own". I think that she wants to show how when you're going out with someone it is like they're yours especially at night which is normally when you feel closest to them.

What about this part "Give my soul, give my soul, sing it free across the sea"?

I thought it was, "in my soul, in my soul sing it free across the sea?" Instead of give my soul, give my soul.......

Also, instead of his mother, I think its "my mother."

I think this song refers to the feelings that you experiment when a love relationship starts to fall apart. There are good things ("last night parties") but there are bad things either ("and last night horrorshow") and she knows that everything has an end ("They say for every heart high there must be a low") but she wants to feel the same again, like in the old days ("Drive my heart, drive my heart, into the fire of a burning heart's desire"). When she ask for advice to her mother, she told her that "The dream of love is a two hearted dream", which means that if he doesn't want to continue the relationship, then, there's nothing to do. She can't fight it alone.

(instead of "in our" and 1 more "lonely" -"Lonely spell to conjure YOU but conjure hell is all I do (instead of nothing) -"Lonely, lonely, lonely, AS MY mother told me" (instead of "his") -"They say for every HIGHER high there must be a low, low, low, low" (Really works the contrast)

There's also a mistake in the last paragraph... the last "lonely" is written "loney". How does one go about fixing lyrics here?

These are the real lyrics =) You can check basically any other site to confirm it. I think that the song could be about loving somebody and having them not love you back, which would explain why she's lonely and his mother saying love is a two-hearted dream
