Bring back hollow reputations.
It’s giving me what I desire.
And I desire to find the words you need to hear.

Kill. Kill. Kill. Your demons.
Face. Face. Face. Your fears.
Fight. Fight. With no discretion.
Die. Die. Die. Alone.

I am the messenger;
I am the one you trust with your last breath.
And you’re missing the point.
You’re missing the point of these words.
You’ve caused the blood that’s on your hands.

I hope you see your own life flash before your eyes.
And find that point, in your life when you realize.
That there’s something that you’ve lost.
And something went terribly wrong.
With your last breath, until your lungs collapse.

I am the messenger;
I am the one you trust with your last breath.
And I’m betting you’ll find,
I’m betting you’ll find a way to.
Why aren’t you trying to escape?
You say you need a great purpose
I say you need to see what’s coming

Great song can't believe no one has commented!

Anyway, I think this song is overcoming something that this person has done. It actually seems like a collaboration of 2 of their songs(Your World On Fire + The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions) and this song actually takes direct lyrics from both of those songs.

"Your World On Fire" is about some one trying to help some one escape from their own miserable life they've created. "The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions" is about some one trying to talk some one else out of suicide and to realize what a big mistake they would be making.

I think this song takes meanings from both of those and also incorporates it's own meaning in there. I think this song is possibly about some one who has ruined their life with drugs?("relapse often deals with drugs) and there is only one person they can talk to and he/she is trying to help them.

"Bring back hollow reputations. Its giving me what I desire. And I desire to find the words you need to hear."

There he is saying he needs to find the words that the person needs to hear in order to save them.

"Kill. Kill. Kill. Your demons. Face. Face. Face. Your fears. Fight. Fight. With no discretion. Die. Die. Die. Alone."

Here the guy is telling the other person that they need to kill their demons and face their fears or they will die alone.

"I am the messenger; I am the one you trust with your last breath. And youre missing the point. Youre missing the point of these words. Youve caused the blood thats on your hands."

He IS the messenger, the messenger being the only person that the one needing help can trust, which is also the "one you trust with your last breath". Basically the only person that can be trusted to help out. Now the "missing the point" part is saying that said person is pretty much ignoring the help and "they caused the blood thats on their hands" by making their mistakes and ignoring.

"I hope you see your own life flash before your eyes. And find that point, in your life when you realize. That theres something that youve lost. And something went terribly wrong. With your last breath, until your lungs collapse.

Here is basically the guy saying that the person needs to go back and realize all the mistakes they have made in order to try to correct them.

"I am the messenger; I am the one you trust with your last breath. And Im betting youll find, Im betting youll find a way to. Why arent you trying to escape? You say you need a great purpose I say you need to see whats coming

The messenger part is the same. But the "Im betting youll find, Im betting youll find a way to.." is saying that he knows they will find a way to correct their mistakes.

"Why arent you trying to escape?" comes from the song "Your World On Fire" and in that song the guy is saying that he pretty much is giving that person an opportunity to escape from their problems and they refuse to "escape".

"You say you need a great purpose I say you need to see whats coming"

That comes from the song "The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions" and the troubled person is thinking about suicide, saying they need "a greater purpose" and the helper is telling them they need to take a look and see whats coming before they make that decision.

Sorry it was so long. I really enjoy this song. It has become a favorite and I needed to go over every detail :D

I just finished listening to this album and I'm really impressed. I think the general theme of the slbum is not to let your fears hold you back from standing up for what you believe in. No matter what happens, don't back down from anything and keep fighting.

    Song Meaning

In Fear and Faith has a lot of Christians in their band, and I think this message is meant for someone who is adandoning God because of guilt.

Bring Back Hollow Reputations/ Coming back into a life to reestablish a reputation -- that is not exactly good -- to people who mean nothing to you.

It's Giving Me What I Desire/ They do this because it's nice to earn other's satisfaction.

Chorus/ The main character is basically saying to fight their guilt and the only way to do that is face their fears and go with Christ even in front of those who will scorn them or reject them because of that.

I am The Messenger/It's the main character saying: I'm bringing you the Word of God.

And I am The One You Trust With Your Last Breath/Christ saying: You rely on me.

And You're Missing The Point./ The person who has abandoned God is missing the point of what life is meant to be lived for. They are choosing things that won't last them beyond Death.

You're Missing The Point Of These Words./They are not understanding the real meaning of what God is saying and being "happy" in other ways.

You've Caused The Blood That's On Your Hands./The main character saying: You caused yourself to be guilty, now face it!

I Hope You See Your Own Life Flash Before Your Eyes./I hope you see all the things you've done, right and wrong and realize that the latter overwhelms the former.

And Find That Point, In Your Life When You Realize, That There's Something That You've Lost./And see when you lost what should mean the most to you, God.

And Something Went Terribly Wrong./And you did whatever makes you feel guilty, and therefore afraid to face God and his judgement.

With Your Last Breath, Until You Relapse, Collapse./The main character saying: I hope until you change and relapse back to who you were, you collapse and realize that until you got back to that way, nothing will go YOUR way.

I am The Messenger/I'm bringing you the word of God.

I am The One You Trust With Your Last Breath./Christ: You rely on me for life and I give you every breath till your last.

And I'm Betting You'll Find, I'm Betting You'll Find A Way To./ Christ: I have faith that you will find your way back.

Why Aren't You Trying To Escape? (x3)/ But why aren't you trying to get away from the things that will only make you relapse back into that hollow reputation?

You Say You Need A Great Purpose/ You say the reason you won't relapse to God is because you need a great purpose (which comes from the mortal approval of those who appreciate your hollow reputation).

I Say You Need To See What's Coming./ Main Character: You need to see what means more and that when you die, if it is very soon, you aren't going to unprepared to face God for what you've done and run away from.

Personally, I saw this because 1) They are all Christians and although they aren't always singing songs to God, they do. 2) I constantly want to say this to some in my family, and I feel exactly like this because I know the only reason they've turned from God. And 3) Because I was like this once in my life, and seriously? It fucking sucked ass. Constant guilt and fear. Ugh. Anyways, there you go!

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
