I could paint your pictures all night long
And tell you tales of every song
Still let you know that you're the reason
Why I'm home

Or I could quote a page of poetry
To show you what you mean to me
And we go falling somewhere faster
Knowing we don't want to ever fall at all

I just don't think that this will be easy
Saying that you love me
Lying tongues are clumsy
And don't speak when one more word would kill me
Saying that you love me
When lying tongues are clumsy

But who am I to say
That every breath we take
Won't be another pointless kiss we gave away
When what we love we burn
Its from the ashes that we yearn
To be the phoenix that rises from up from the flames

Don't think that this will be easy
Saying that you love me
When lying tongues are clumsy

Don't think that this will be easy
Saying that you love me
When lying tongues are clumsy

And don't speak when one more word would kill me
Saying that you love me
When lying tongues are clumsy

I could paint your pictures all night long
And tell you tales of every song
And let you know that you're the reason why I'm home

I love this song... And Jason's voice is effing awesome! Amazing how the song begins really softly, intensifies along the way to finally blow up towards the end. Really powerful delivery and the drums at 2:38 are just fantastic! Go Radio = <3 Anyway, about the meaning i guess it's pretty obvious that there's a guy who loves a girl... And he doesn't believe her when she tells him that she loves him too... Yet, despite believing that she's lying, he can't leave her... She's his reason for not leaving... She's the reason why he's home...

God, this song is so special to me. For me, it's about 'figuratively' being home. You're not necessarily home, but you're somewhere where you lover is at... and it's home...

    fuck i miss you

    Song Meaning

Its about Jason's ex-wife Katy. She had a really hard time dealing with him touring and wanted him to always be home. He loves touring and wouldn't mind being on tour 12 months of out the year so when he did get home he wrote that song for her to let her know the only reason why he is home is for her.

i disagree nicooleann, well not entirely.

to me this song is telling of someone who has been gone awhile. in the begining hes saying all these different things that he could do or has done to show this girl how much he loves her. hes come back from something that he obviosuly loves, maybe touring, for this girl.

except he knows that this person doesnt fully understand what he means. that they have taken the words "love" and convuluted them.

"And don't speak when one more word would kill me Saying that you love me Lying tongues are clumsy"

one word from her could kill him, exspecially words he knows he doesnt understand. lying toungues, she doesnt mean what she says.

this is just my take and its probably wrong just thought id give you my two cents

i totally agree with brian. and a little bit more.

to me i believe that this is the beginning stage of a relationship. where two people are scared to fall in love with each other but they are anyway.

"And we'd go falling somewhere faster Knowing we don't want to ever fall at all"

and that they're scared that all those kisses that mean so much, will go to waste IF they break up.

"That every breath we take Won't be another pointless kiss We gave away"

I also think that not only is he scared of saying that he loves her but he's scared of her telling him she loves him. and to be absolutely sure that she loves him when she tells him. he never says he loves her in the song. but how much she means to him.

well thats just my meaning. prolly not right.

As for the meaning of this song, I think the people above me did an outstanding job of explaining. When I found out Jason left Mayday Parade, I freaked. I was so upset. Their cd came out, their first album without him, and I liked it, but it didn't even compare to the two before featuring Jason. Later, I found out Jason had a group called Go Radio. I searched for it and bought two of their songs, Why I'm Home and I Miss You. I fell in love with both of them, esp Why I'm Home. I have to say, I am a sucker for Jasons voice. Something about it is so sad and has so much feeling. In his more upbeat songs, his voice just pumps you up. Very versatile. I was a huge Mayday Parade fan, still am, but I swear, losing Jason is a HUGE loss for them. I have never heard a voice like his. It's very unusual, in a good way. I hate that Mayday's latest album sounds different from the others. Their old songs had such deep meaning, like Go Radio's. Mayday Parade has lost that. They seem so regular and commercial now. Not fun. You can be popular and still have great songs!! Hopefully Go Radio sticks to the upbeat fun songs and also the dark, sad, or love songs. Everyone has a dark side! ( : I am so happy that Go Radio was just signed to Fearless Records, because I am a huge fan of many of their bands. I wish all of the success in the world to Go Radio, and I hope they come out with more and more albums. Please, Go Radio, don't let fame ever change your music!

    I love this song.

To me it means Jason has been out thinking about his relationship with this girl. Then he comes home to tell her his decision, and he's prepared to leave, but in truth he doesn't want to. He feels that the relation ship is pointless because he loves her, but he's positive she doesn't feel the same. "Saying that you love me/ Lying tongues are clumsy" She wants him to stay, and in doing so she says I love you, but he doesn't think she means it...

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
