Chorus:
Your funeral
Nothin' is for sure
No one ever knows
When it's time to go
Your funeral
Nothin' is for sure
No one ever knows
When it's time to go

Verse 1:
I was livin' life without worry while haters comin' to hurt me
I was sent on a vicious mission, I'm hopin' ya heard me
I disguised it with blunts, livin' life around sluts
And while the haters be jealous that they be all on our nuts
It's a method of manners, I smoke and act a fool
I'm a bum, I'm a drunk, I'm a stoner just like you
Highschool, I was 14, had blunts of the bama
Believe it, I was, Gramma, bangin' one more red than Santa
Fightin' with the SA's on every other thursday
Their class was next to mine and my skin is hershey
Never gonna be a bitch, the game taught me never snitch
Mama said "Never go broke or for a bitch"
Tried to live with tight pay, do everything the right way
Hitchhikin' on survival, had to ride the Devil's highway
God will you forgive me, come down and save my soul
Death is here today, don't got another day to go

Chorus:
Your funeral
Nothin' is for sure
No one ever knows
When it's time to go
Your funeral
Nothin' is for sure
No one ever knows
When it's time to go

Verse 2:
I was nothin', depressed, contemplatin' suicide
So down on myself, sometimes I wanted to die
Then when I learned to make music, my pain just went away
My whole attitude changed, I started havin' good days
I tried to live right, by treatin' people with respect
I tried to spread peace, like with the hippie's protest
I tried to live my life happy, without steppin' on your toes
I tried to make us all get along, friends or foes
Yo, I can keep a secret, I can make ya feel worth it
I can make ya feel special and I made it my purpose
Cause I know what it's like, when you're feelin' down and alone
Nowhere to go, parents fightin' so I don't wanna go home
Now, like the snake, I stay humble
Never cold to another but now it's my time to go
Like the snow in the summer
So when I'm gone, like King Kong, put the purple in the bong
Don't be sad, I was glad, we had fans singin' along
It's over now, my dead bodies layin' on the ground
I'm lookin' down as I'm risin' like the sun above the town
I'm gone like "poof", no more Josh, just a CD
So the last time you saw me’s now the last time you'll see me

Chorus:
Your funeral
Nothin' is for sure
No one ever knows
When it's time to go

Verse 3:
What will they say about my funeral, when I go
Who will know I lived it to the limits, takin' every turn up on this road
At my funeral, what will they say, what will they say when I'm buried one day
What will they say about my funeral, when I go
Who will know I lived it to the limits, takin' every turn up on this road
At my funeral, what will they say, what will they say when I'm buried one day

Verse 4:
I think there's a line in life
And since I died tonight, I'll find out if I was right
I hope I get to make it up until the line is flight
But if I don't, I'll go to hell, just know that I'm alright
And keep it burnin' bright
I know the Devil's been tryin' to get with me for some years
In the forms of different people, I swear to God they're my peers
And it tore me into pieces
My position is here, and there's nothin' that you can do to me to make it disappear
Even though, you're sittin' at my funeral, starin' at my casket
My legacy lives on, to this day, I'm everlastin'
Now you're kneelin' next to me, cryin' to me right in my face
Tryin' to wait, hopin' that's it's all just a mistake
And I awake
All because your prayers and your faith
Forever, I'm locked in your soul from the music I make
And if you wait for me here, I'll be back with a grin
And we can sit back and live it all over again, remember

Chorus:
Your funeral
Nothin' is for sure
No one ever knows
When it's time to go
Your funeral
Nothin' is for sure
No one ever knows
When it's time to go

Verse 5:
Bless me for the pleas, that it all be a bad dream
I'm on my back in a casket, with the ceilin' above me
I'm motionless, endless numbness, I lost all function
So my hands are crossed in a box that I'm stuck in
There's talkin' and the voices are familiar to me
And it tenses, what has it become
Closer, they grow in clarity
Speakin' of barbaria, me, and my headstone
To mark my memory
I hear 'em cryin' and they won't let go
And it doesn't make it easy when ya can't return
But still, I have so many things to learn
And teach the listeners
Who will listen with such a love and conviction
And purchase the product, over the counter, without prescriptions
And now my bitchin' is in double wide, hollow
Velvet material with a polycotton pillow
To rest my head upon but my spirits be gone
The niggas above my body keepin' it quiet while singin' a song

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
