Well, since time I had a mind, I been lazy
And times before that I was cruel
And times before that I was lean, I was mad
Honey, I ain't never had nobody like you

And the times before that, well, I was crazy
I saw the dark side of the moon
And the stars in the sky, they never caught my eye
'Cause I ain't never had nobody like you
I ain't never had nobody like you

Now it's just like ABC
Life's just like 123
Yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
Ah oh

I watched my own habits die and its painful
sometimes its painful in the light of the truth
but you can be faster than light
I'd like to thank you tonight
Honey, I ain't never had nobody like you
I ain't never had nobody like you

And it's just like ABC
Life's just like 123
Yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
Ah oh

I trusted liars and thieves in my madness
Honey I was wasting away in the room
But now that I been through that hell I got a story to tell
Honey, I ain't never had nobody like you
I ain't I never had nobody like you
I ain't never had nobody like you

Not really much to analyze here. Just a good old fashioned love song. But, it's so infectious. I could listen to this song all day long. It's terrific.

I think it's an homage to songs or artists that he admires.
Time out of mind...Bob Dylan Dark Side of the Mind...Pink Floyd ABC 123...Jackson 5 Old Habits (Die Hard)...Rolling Stones

and maybe there are more that I didn't get. "Never Had Nobody Like You"...maybe it's a nice compliment to musicians so excellent and (in their time) unique. I really dig it.

    Few corrections to my ears:

Well, since time out of mind, I been lazy

But you kept me fast to the light

And I'm not sure about the first two lines of the last stanza...don't sound quite right to me, but can't make them out

I love Zoey Deschanels back up vocals. Pretty simple, yet great song.. he was unhappy with his life until he met a certain someone.

Hey all, I'm posting the slightly corrected lyrics here. I mainly just added where delia forgot the "honeys" and the "ain'ts".

Well since time out of mind I been lazy and times before that I was cruel and the times before that I was mean, I was mad Honey I ain't never had nobody like you

And the times before that well I was crazy I saw the dark side of the moon And the stars in the sky They never caught my eye Cuz I ain't never had nobody like you I ain't never had nobody like you

But now it's just like ABC Life's just like 1...2..3

I watched my old habits die & it was painful Sometimes it's painful in the light of the truth But you kept me fast to the right And I wanna thank you tonight Honey I ain't never had nobody like you I ain't never had nobody like you

But now it's just like ABC Life's just like 1...2..3

I trusted liars and thieves in my blindness Honey, I was wasting away at the root But now that I've been through that hell I got a story to tell Honey I ain't never had nobody like you I ain't never had nobody like you

A love song from one musician to another. The relationship goes back many years and covers a lot of painful times for the speaker. The beloved has been patient through it all and it's time to say thank you and sorry.

Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
