Giddy up and go
We'll go so far as we please

Giddy up and gold mine
Different place, different time
All the stars are in their prime
Pastel trailer park, stars so bright to hide the dark
All is quiet in the yard

Giddy up and gold dust, all the cars turn to rust
You've got no means for wanderlust
Pastel trailer park, stars so bright to hide the dark
All is quiet in the yard

If you are so frequently in love
If you prefer it all to me then my love
You go down the longest road to nowhere
You pull it apart and you're just left there

Giddy up and gold mine, horse dust down time
Its my life, its my time, we've been gettin' nowhere
Gold mine, different place, different time
Hold me down, Hold me down
Hope will be found, Follow me

If you are so frequently in love
If you prefer it all to me then my love
You go down the longest road to nowhere
You pull it apart and your just left there

They're waiting for it, you're waiting for it
And you're waving in it, and you're craving in it
If you fill my cup with all you must
To speak from something

If you are so frequently in love
If you prefer it all to me then my love
You go down the longest road to nowhere
You pull it apart and your just left there
You go down the longest road to nowhere
You pull it apart and your just left there.

I think the song is about a girl explaining to a guy, that he needs to change his ways.

I think that it's either: The guy and girl aren't seeing each other, and they'd like to, but the guy has many girls that he dates or see's, and the girl is explaining to him that she's OK with that, but then she's not the girl for him.

Or, the couple are in a relationship, and the guy is cheating. The girl is either aware of it, or knew he cheated on others in the past. So in the song, she's saying to him that if cheats on her, he'll be on a road to nowhere with their relationship.

Personally I relate it to myself a bit differently than I think intended:) I have many GF's, but no real serious relationships. I can't even remember many of their names. So the song speaks to me in a similar theme above, except I take the "If you are so frequently in Love" line to mean, that if I continue to have meaningless sex with short term GF's I'll remain single until I grow up, and focus on a real relationship.

The longest road to nowhere, would be remaining to be single - by continuing to have short term relationships.

i gist of the song that i get is that there's the one she loves, and he loves her.. but she's conserned he might stray... or that she might stray in fact, so by saying that they'll go down the longest road to knowhere its say that their love will not be, if either strays. The gold mine being their love, then she says different place, different time... basically implying that their relationship could have worked in different settings. it's beutiful , try listening to the robbie rivera mix. I'm in love with it.

I think this song is refering to someone who is in love with someone else, who loves something else more then her (possibly an addiction of some sort, alcohol, drugs, anything really and chooses it over the one who loves him), hence the "if you prefer it all to me, then my love. You go down the longest road to nowhere".

you can really feel the emotion sung with the song.

the lyrics throughout the verses are oblique which breaks up the song perfectly while the chorus pretty much speaks for itself.

it's easy to picture her telling the other person, "if you are so frequent in love, if you prefer it all to me then my love"

you could interpret it which ever way works best for you.

maybe he strays and continuously falls for other girls, maybe he has some other form of addiction which takes precedent over her.

she says "you've got no means to wanderlust"......which would imply she gives him no reason to need to wander or stray from her, but evidently he does.

    deep song, must be appreciated.

I always thought she was telling someone she wasn't worth falling for because she'll just leave them heart broken.

    My Interpretation

I think its about a girl just not for the guy, but the guy loves her so much. They broke up and the guy still loves the girl, and she wants him to move on.

    My Interpretation

The idea of what this song meant came to me when I was Sedona, Arizona. It was swirling around in my mind but I didn't get a concrete grasp on it until I was alone. That weekend had been spent doing some inappropriate things and I kept pushing the guilt back but then it hit me. This song is about chasing happiness in the wrong places.. Sleeping around, doing drugs, whatever it is that gets you off but doesn't sit true with your heart.. True love comes from God and if you don't choose His love, you're going down the longest road to nowhere. That's my interpretation and I'm posting a very personal experience and sharing it with you.

    Translation

Sorry to bother you, but English is not my native language and I can't understand the last verse.

"If you fill my cup with all you must To speak from something"

Could someone rephrase that or explain what it means?

    Thanks

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
