she says
it's impossible to realize
you're dead
when you shut your eyes
the car door has closed the highway opens up its arms
a couple hundred miles away from where we're from
i don't know where we're goin
i don't know where i'm gonna be
find another town that won't remember me

fill myself up with junk food
kill myself to bridge this gap
look what this has come to
we have reached the far edge of this map
you need someone to love you
the best i can do is not quite
and that only seems true when it's seen through the microscope of hindsight
and all i ever wanted to do
all i ever wanted to do
all i ever wanted to do
was be the exception to the rule
but you won't let me

you didn't make my decision easy
you made my decision for me
you made sure he could be nothing more than the antagonist
in one of your short stories
you've already made your mind up
you've already wrote the ending
we've both been cast as broken glass
and there's no hope of mending
and you know we're both pretending
it's my fault that it's goin' sour
but i haven't moved an inch and the distance between us is growing by the hour
and all i ever wanted to do
all i ever wanted to do
all i ever wanted to do
was be the exception to the rule
but you won't let me

we've been here before (all i ever wanted to do all i ever wanted to do)
we know how this will end (all i ever wanted to do was be the exception to the rule)
if we walk through this door (all i ever wanted to do, all i ever wanted to do)
we can't open it again (was be the exception to the rule)

we will never be the same - we've come too far (it's too late for these words)
forget about our yesterday - find a new star (your mind has been made up)
give yourself a new name - change who you are (the truth no longer hurts)
forget about all of your (?) - change both of us (confuses both of us)

i wish you could see
the emptiness inside
i've hid so carefully
in the hollow of my eyes

will this world be my last mistake?
a pretty face a first big break
the gravity will keep me in her cold embrace
left to watch the stars die out

she says
it's impossible to realize
you're dead
when you shut your eyes

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
