Mountains of molehills,
A grapevine in my ear.
Spots on the tiger while the townspeople gather to hear,
While the nests in my hands starve for rest.
Sticklers for cheap fun,
You oughta be ashamed to trade in your heirlooms.
For black market all day parades,
For a grand prize a slap in the face for you
Bold faced type covers your text,
It must have been winter.
Still frame, no dice.
Where do you get your evidence?
Move now, stay still,
It takes a luminescent hue.
The wood, the crest that's weaved outside your vest.
Still frame, no dice.
Loons light the skyline while you sleep on concrete with both your eyes open.
I just kept pullin' on both your feet.
Someday together we'll breathe on mountains of molehills

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

I recently read other interpretations and I happened to agree. But mine is a little different. I also think its about the talboids, celebs, etc....
Mountains of molehills (all the mansions and big houses in hollywood) A grapevine in my ear (the speaker hearing about what the celebs are up to) Spots on the tiger While the townspeople gather to hear (everyones wants to hear updates on celebs) While the nests in my hands starve for rest (i work hard to make ends meat, this will make sense in a little bit)
Sticklers for cheap fun You oughta be ashamed To trade in your heirlooms For an all-day black market parade (famous people do stupid things and make themselves look like idiots, and take their money for granted) For a grand prize, a slap in the face
For you Bold face type covers your text It must have been winter (talks about celebs in magazines)
Still frame, no dice (paparazzi taking pictures to make money and sometimes dont get good pics) Where do you get your evidence? (a celeb wonder where the rumors are coming from) Move back, stay still (paparazzi still taking pics) It takes a luminescent hue (its takes the flash of a camera) The wood, the crest That's weaved outside your vest (about the expensive clothes) Still frame, no dice
Loons light the skyline (all the lights from the big houses) While you sleep on concrete With both your eyes open (you, a poor person, sleeps on a crappy bed and cant sleep b/c your worried about how you will pay bills) I just kept pulling on both your feet Someday, together, we'll breathe, breathe... (the speaker trying to cheer you up and say we will be rich one day)
For you Bold face type covers your text It must have been winter
Still frame, no dice Where do you get your evidence? Move back, stay still It takes a luminescent hue The wood, the crest That's weaved outside your vest Still frame, no dice
Roll down the window I know there's a shortcut ahead (we can find a way to be rich) The long drive home is taking its toll We just need some rest... (oh yeah) (about the rich people being home sick)
Still frame, no dice Where do you get your evidence? Move back, stay still It takes a luminescent hue The wood, the crest That's weaved outside your vest Still frame, no dice
I think the name of the song means that the poor people should have money and the rich people shouldnt, because they dont put it to good use. so i should be the other way around.
Its about a murder...
Well, why can't it be about both? It seems to me that Darroh writes a double meaning into the chorus:<br /> <br /> "Still frame, no dice<br /> Where do you get your evidence?<br /> Move back, stay still<br /> It takes a luminescent hue<br /> The wood, the crest<br /> That's weaved outside your vest<br /> Still frame, no dice"<br /> <br /> This could be referencing simple celebrity life and the superficial-ism that comes along with that, but it also seems to paint a picture of a crime scene. To me it seems that he's referencing the Manson murders, he explains two sides of a story throughout the song saying:<br /> <br /> "Loons light the skyline<br /> While you sleep on concrete"<br /> ...<br /> "I know there's a shortcut ahead<br /> The long drive home is taking its toll"<br /> <br /> Darroh's songs are littered with these two-sided "dialogues" as I have started referring to the. There seems to be two in this song, one in the main chorus with a double meaning which could either be between a celebrity and paparazzi, or a prosecutor and defendant in court. The second dialogue is scattered throughout the song, and well represented in the two couples quoted above. It seems to be between Manson and what he perceived all of his victims, and all celebrities for that matter, thought. Anyways, that's what I got from it, I'm still looking for a somewhat direct reference to Manson, that would clinch it, so if anyone can find one reply back =].<br />
