The first day was the hardest part
I thought to myself for hope
and when I finally came up dry
I was the first to choke
he makes a list of pro's and con's
to calculate his worth
his list is on the heavy side
his list is filled with heart

he's waiting, he's waiting to see
he's waiting, waiting to see

his brother thinks that he will die
he'll tell him to his face
it's only a matter of time
before he's at his grave

he's waiting, he's waiting to see
he's waiting, he's waiting to see
what I'll be

pick me up, break me down
I'll be the first to tell you that I have been found
take a drag, take a sip
I'll be the first to tell you that I don't need anyone...oohhh
I'm better then this, anyone ohhh I'm better then this

waiting, he's waiting to see
hes waiting , waiting to see
he's waiting, I'm waiting to see
he's waiting, I'm waiting to see
what I'll be

Its probably about a drug addict or an alcoholic, someone whose made a few bad choices in their past, they reflect on the good and bad things that they have done and they're waiting to see if anyone will help them. they're waiting to see what they will become if they stay alive through all of their choices.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
