Standing on a bus stop
Feeling your head pop
Out in the night
On the kind of night
Where you want to be out
On the street, on the street
Crawling up the walls
Like a cat in heat

And the air is thin
And it blows through your skin
And you feel like something
Is about to begin
But you don't know what
And you don't know when
So you tear at your hair
And you scratch at your skin

You wanna run away, run away
Just get on the fucking train and leave today
And it doesn't matter where you spend the night
You just might end up somewhere in a fight, in a fight
Or caught in your room on a concrete shelf
Fighting all alone, with yourself, with yourself
And you just wanna feel like a coin that's been tossed
In a wishing well, a wishing well
A wishing well, a wishing well
Well, you're tossed in the air
And you fell and you fell
Through the dark blue waters
Where you cast your spell
Like you were just a wish that could turn out well

So you stand on the corner
Where the angels sit
And you think to yourself,
"This is it, this is it,
This is all that I have
All I can stand
Is this air in my lungs
And this coin in my hand
That you tossed in the air
And I fell, and I fell
All the way to the bottom
Of the well, of the well
Like those soft little secrets
That you tell, that you tell
To yourself, when you think
No one's listening to, well"

And the walls spin
And you're paper-thin
From the haze of the smoke
And the mescaline
The threat of your brow
Under unmade sheets
In your ear with the noise
From the darkest streets
We ran far and wide
You screamed, you cried
You thought suicide was an alibi
But you were always a mess
You were always aloof
Yeah, it's awful, I guess
But it's the awful truth
It was truth from the first
To the last words that she read

And she emerged from the dark
Like a ghost in my head
She said, "I haven't forgot
Any words that you said
I just stare at the clocks
And I cry in my sleep
And I tear up your letters
And I burn them in heaps
And I gather the ashes
In that hole in the ground
Where we fell"

Actually, I really don't think that his life was boring.

Doing some background research, he literally hit rock bottom in his life. He was diagnosed with two different types of illnesses and his mother had just been diagnosed with cancer, as well as him having to go through a bad break up.

This song is more about how you get stuck in the bad moments in life, and you feel like you can't get out of them. He also mentions that you want something bigger to happen, something to make all of this pain and heartache disappear. He says "when you think to yourself this is it, this is it" he's referring to the idea that "this is all. This is how my life is going to be. Dark and full of pain."

That's just my personal opinion. But I don't think it has anything to do with being "bored".

this was the first song that he wrote and I am pretty sure xMonica is right, but I personally hear the song I think about change. Wanting to get away "get on that fucking train and leave today" and it doesn't matter where you go you just want something different. Being a senior in high school I can really relate to this because I just want to get out of here. So while xMonica is right on what it means to Mikel and what he was trying to convey but on a personal level to me it means just getting away from routine, trying to start something new in your life.

I think both he and the girl are fed up with life as everyone said but she was so fed up that she commited suicide. "You thought suicide was an alibi" he then talks about her in past tense "But you were always a mess, You were always aloof" and how he sings that "It was truth from the first to the LAST words that she read". And then I think the last part is about how he cant stop thinking about her "And she emerged from the dark Like a GHOST in my head" and he wishes he could have done more for her because now hes all alone and misses her.

For the most part I think this song is about wanting something amazing to happen in a life you're fed up with. Same shit everyday; boring, long drawn-out days, nothing ever works out right. He just wants something to happen that makes life not seem so dull. Maybe it ties in at the end about a girl that made his life worthwhile, but something happened and they're no longer together, and he's lost that sort of alive feeling.

I hope they dont get big But the tickets for their u.k tour are all sold out I have to say this is one of my favourite songs and i only heard it last week.

Well i think the first part of the song is like sadnessSiren said.. He just feels his life is boring and wants something to happen. I think he wants to feel something different for once, like feel danger or do something unpredictable like run away but he never does. Then I think where it says "and the walls spin and youre paper thin" I think he actually does what he wanted to do but cant deal with it, and then at the end he realizes that he didnt need any of it, he just wanted the girl he's talking about in the last verse because it sounds like he's missing her and she's missing him.

I don't actually know what this song means. Hm. I do know, however, this line : And the air is thin And it blows through your skin And you feel like something Is about to begin But you don't know what And you don't know when So you tear at your hair And you scratch at your skin

reminds me of a meth addict. or something. they itch their skin. and something is 'blowing' through their skin? ya its some sort of drug.

And the walls spin And you're paper-thin From the haze of the smoke And the mescaline

Drugs are certainly involved (mescaline is a pretty intense drug), I don't know if feeling the wind through your skin counts though - it may just be a necessary phrase to keep the rhyme up.

I think the song is about him feeling trapped in his world (xMonica is right), he's not simply bored, he doesn't want to live his life and wants to escape, he wants to "run away". I think Kelsii88 had a valid point to. His girl wanted to get away so bad she committed suicide.

The song does have a lot of lyrics however, and I think there's a lot more in there that I'm not picking up.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
